Highly recommended - Hector, our guide, did a fantastic job: very professional, super friendly, constantly watching us and always with a smile. We are very grateful to you. The route is beautiful. 8 hours of hiking in the middle of the jungle surrounded by incredible vegetation. We saw birds and white-faced monkeys that threw fruit at us from the trees:-) The climb to the viewpoint is hard but worth it. The views are amazing. It was a magnificent experience. Tip: wear mountain boots and go light in weight to make it easier physically to do the tour.

Quetzales Trail challenge! - I live in Boquete and am an active hiker on all the trails here. The Quetzales Trail has so many possibilities for every standard of hiker! From Boquete to Cerro Punta it is 7Km hike in length but a 910m ascent :) From the start of the Trail, the first 3-4Km is steadily rising along a very pretty jungle trail and if your standard is basic you can choose to turn back before you hit the next stage. The change from the ambling first section is ‘200’ steps pretty much vertical up the mountain to the seating area you see in the photographs, again this is a stage from which you can decide to return. If you decide to continue to Cerro Punta you face further stairs and steep ascent but this effort is rewarded by wonderful views from several viewing points. When you reach Cerro Punta Rangers Hut there is a seating area to relax and picnic and the views from there are stunning. After a rest from your ascent you can then return back down to Boquete. It is possible to be picked up from Cerro Punta, equally you can be taken to Cerro Punta and then just do the descent. While this is possible it is nearly 2 hours from Boquete by road and taxis drop you short from the start so you face a steep ascent anyway unless your carrier takes you right to the rangers hut. From/to the Boquete Rangers’ Hut there is a steep descent/ascent appropriately named ‘Los Lamentos’ so ascending to the Hut from the Cerro Punta direction you always have that as your final challenge. For fitness fiends this trail is such a great challenge in so many ways. There and back in the same day is great fun, beautiful and a fantastic challenge depending on your pace. Cards on the table, I did Boquete to Cerro in 2 hours and 15 minutes and 1 hour and 30 minutes coming back, not bad for 60 :) but you younger people will beat that surely ;) I’m not a ‘birder’ but no review could be complete without mentioning the huge number of bird species that adorn this wonderful trail, not least the often illusive and beautiful Quetzal. Of course you are more likely to see these if you walk and loiter at a birder pace rather than the fitness hiker. So in summary this is yet another wonderful and rewarding trail in Boquete. There and back in a day is a fantastic way to spend a day for keen hikers.
