- Fall Creek Falls State Park - Embark on a full-day guided hike, traveling about 2.5 hours east from our Nashville meeting point into the heart of the Cumberland Plateau. We’ll take a brief break halfway through for a stretch and restroom stop.
We will hike approximately 4 - 5 miles over steep, rocky, and slippery terrain.
- Cane Creek Falls - Our adventure begins at Cane Creek Falls (85’) and Cascades (45’). A short walk from the parking lot leads to the observation deck and nature center. There is also a short but fairly steep trail to the creek bed near the base of the cascades. We will explore this area for about 30-45 minutes before crossing Cane Creek via a suspension bridge.
- Cane Creek Falls Overlook Trail - Experience the thrill of crossing the 120ft long and 20ft high Cane Creek suspension bridge over the rushing rapids below. We then hike approximately 0.75 miles along the gorge rim to the Cane Creek Falls Overlook. This cliff-based vantage point offers stunning views of the 85-foot Cane Creek Falls and the towering 120-foot Rockhouse Falls.
- Fall Creek Falls Overlook - After enjoying the views from Cane Creek Overlook, we continue our gorge rim hike for another 1.25 miles to the main attraction, Fall Creek Falls. We’ll stop at the famous Fall Creek Falls overlook to take in the breathtaking sight of Fall Creek Falls, which stands at an impressive 256 feet, and its neighboring Coon Creek Falls at 250 feet. Both are among the tallest waterfalls east of the Mississippi River, each with sheer vertical drops of over 250 feet.
- Fall Creek Falls - The real adventure begins as we embark on the steep and rocky 0.5-mile trek to the base of Fall Creek Falls.
The Base of Falls Trail is very strenuous!
It descends over 300 feet vertically within a half-mile across uneven, slippery rocks. This is an out-and-back trail, so we must climb the same steep, slippery rocky steps on the return.
- Fall Creek Falls Betty Dunn Nature Center - We then take a forest trail back to the nature center parking lot, crossing the Cane Creek suspension bridge once again along the way.
