The Call of the River
The Colorado River has always been a siren call for adventurers like me. Its legendary rapids and breathtaking scenery have been on my radar for years, and when the opportunity arose to tackle the Scenic Class II Adventure, I knew it was time to answer the call. With a group of fellow thrill-seekers, we set out to conquer the Fisher Towers section, a stretch of river known for its stunning red rock canyons and exhilarating class II rapids.
As we arrived at the launch site, the anticipation was palpable. Our guide, Larry, greeted us with a warm smile and a promise of an unforgettable day. The six-person paddle rafts were ready, and so were we. The river beckoned, and we eagerly accepted its challenge.

Larry’s quick thinking and precise aim with a throw bag freed the bird, but it was still trapped. Without hesitation, two of our group waded into the muddy water to rescue the osprey, a majestic bird of prey. It was a moment of unexpected heroism, a testament to the spirit of adventure and compassion that defines our journeys.
A Journey to Remember
With the osprey safely in a dry sack, we made our way back to land, where the adventure took a new turn. The bird needed help, and we were determined to provide it. A drive to a wildlife rehab center was the final leg of our journey, a fitting end to a day filled with unexpected twists and turns.
Reflecting on the experience, I realized that the true essence of adventure lies not just in the thrill of the ride, but in the stories that unfold along the way.
