Great tour guide - Unfortunately the blue lagoon was closed but they offered a great bunch of alternatives. We stuck to doing just the hike with a lie in and a partial refund. The tour guide was really funny and made the experience. It was heavy snow when we went - if you have the same I'd recommend an extra pair of socks! No stops for food on our tour unlike some of the other tour days where there are gift shops, etc, so bring a packed lunch. The hike was not tricky, I put it on Strava, granted I missed the start but it was little more than 5K total but with a 200m elevation. Perhaps they made it shorter cause of the snow.

Hike and relax - Our guide was great! Lots of info. Everything ran smoothly. Picked up in small bus then taken to larger bus. There was a couple of extra viewpoints on the way overlooking a lake and to see bubbling pools that were an added bonus. The walk on the old lava flow was amazing - so many shapes and textures. Blue lagoon was a nice ending to soak and relax. A day well spent.

Take it seriously - 1st it’s not for the weak of lungs or calf muscles ! 3 hours of mountain climbing is 3 hours of incline hiking so please take it seriously. IF you’re able to finish, it’s so worth it. Our tour guide Hbo was informative, patient and very very witty. we also stopped by a sea side restaurant for FRESH fish and chips which were amazing. All and all it’s worth it if you’re fit enough to finish it.

Once in a lifetime! - Incredible experience - loved having the opportunity to walk on lava field and learning all about the formation. Guide was friendly, knowledgable and enthusiastic. Originally we’d booked to do blue lagoon on the same day but due to the weather our trips were split out. On the day before we did the blue lagoon which was so relaxing. The day of the volcano hike we saw lots of cool geothermal sites and lovely coastal areas too! A must do tour for your time in Iceland

Dave’s Special Route - We got Dave as our guide, and Eugene as our driver. Both were funny (think it’s an Icelandic Tour guide thing for them to make all of us laugh! - no complaints there!) Dave was kind enough to explain that there would be no lava flow, but it would still be worth going for the hike. We were supposed to go for the easier route, however, think Eugene didn’t hear it, BUT IT WAS WORTH IT! (This is coming from someone who isn’t really into hiking - I just wanted to see the volcano) My wife and I were the slowest in the group, and I could see Dave constantly turning around to check on us, making sure we’re ok. Dave was very knowledgeable, explaining to us the different types of flows, and why the lava flows had different patterns or colours. As Dave is an avid hiker, he brings you on his special route which allows you to see way more! It was really good to have had Dave as our guide. Will gladly recommend - but please take note, there are no lava flows, just lots of steam here and there (it’s Mother Nature - there isn’t a switch to turn it on - but views are worth it!)

Good trip but not what’s advertised. - It was a nice trip but not at all what I had expected. We walked about 2k, not the 18k I expected and went to a different volcano to the one advertised (which was fine but just not what I expected). Pretty chaotic at pick up as none of the drivers seemed to know which bus was for what tour and once we finally embarked, 15 mins later the first stop was a fuel station where we waited for 15 mins in case anyone wanted a comfort break. A pleasant enough trip but I think there are probably better ways to book a hike to volcanos. Blue Lagoon was gorgeous though! A must to visit if you’re in Iceland!

Poor customer service - They canceled part of the trip last minute and gave a minimal refund, despite knowing for several days before they would need to cancel. Ended up paying over $250 for 2 basic tickets to the blue lagoon; be careful if booking with this company.
