A Journey to the Stars

Our adventure began with an evening pick-up in a comfortable coach, setting the stage for a magical journey into the heart of Tenerife’s Teide National Park. As we ascended, the landscape transformed before our eyes, and the temperature dropped significantly, a stark contrast to the warm coastal climate. Our first stop was a quaint village nestled in the mountains, where we indulged in what was arguably the best coffee of our trip. The kids were thrilled to explore the village, and the change in temperature was a fun lesson in geography for them.

The drive continued, and we made several stops at scenic viewpoints, each offering breathtaking vistas of Mount Teide. The wind was brisk, but the views were worth every gust. The kids were fascinated by the towering mountain and the stories of its volcanic past. Unfortunately, the zip-line to the top was closed due to the wind, but the excitement of the journey kept our spirits high.

Dining Under the Stars

As we reached the higher altitudes, we arrived at a massive restaurant seemingly in the middle of nowhere. The setting was perfect for a family meal, and the three-course dinner was a delightful surprise. We shared a table with other families, and the kids enjoyed making new friends while we savored the delicious food and complimentary drinks. The restaurant’s location offered a unique dining experience, surrounded by the rugged beauty of the national park.

After dinner, we headed to a viewpoint to witness the sunset. The sky transformed into a canvas of pinks, reds, and purples, a sight that left us all in awe. The moonrise behind the telescope buildings added to the magic of the moment. Although our guide didn’t join us for photos, the memories we captured were enough to cherish the experience.

Stargazing and Beyond

The night continued with a return to the restaurant for a warm cup of hot chocolate, a comforting treat before our descent. The highlight of the evening was the stargazing session. The clear night sky offered a spectacular view of the stars, and our guide’s informative commentary brought the constellations to life. The kids were captivated by the stories and legends associated with the stars, making it an educational experience as well.

Our final stop featured powerful telescopes that allowed us to see the moon’s surface and various constellations up close. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that left us all inspired and eager to learn more about the universe. The journey back down the mountain was filled with excited chatter about the stars and the day’s adventures.
