Join us as we explore the waterfalls and photographs, with our tour guides sharing research on the Lake Missoula Flood’s impact in Northwest Oregon & Southwest Washington.
We travel along the Historic Columbia River Highway, stopping at locations such as the Portland Women’s Forum, Crown Point Vista House, Latourell Falls, Multnomah Falls, and Horsetail Falls.
- Portland Women’s Forum State Scenic Viewpoint - This viewpoint offers a breathtaking view of the magnificent Columbia River Gorge, making it one of the best spots to start a day of adventure and discovery in the Gorge. With the scenic Vista House and the expansive Columbia Gorge in the background, this spot is one of the most photographed locations in the area.
- Latourell Falls - This stunning waterfall plunges 249 feet (76 m) over a massive basalt wall and flows through the forest into the Columbia River. The waterfall is framed by perfect columnar basalt formations adorned with yellow lichen and surrounded by lush green flora. We’ll venture down to the pool below the falls, where you can hear the tremendous rush of water and feel the cool mist. It’s easy to see why this is one of Oregon’s most photographed waterfalls.
- Multnomah Falls - This ancient 620-foot (189 m) waterfall, fed by underground streams from Larch Mountain, is divided into two sections: the upper falls plummets 542 feet into a pool, then drops another 69 feet to form a creek that flows into the Columbia River. Multnomah Falls is the second highest year-round waterfall in the United States and the highest in Oregon, attracting over 2.5 million visitors annually. At the base of the waterfall is the Historic Multnomah Falls Lodge, a full-service day lodge with a restaurant, gift shop, snack and espresso bar, and interpretive center.
- Vista House - Located atop one of the most panoramic overlooks in the Columbia River Gorge, Vista House offers a majestic view of the Gorge. Often called “The Crown Jewel of the Columbia River Gorge,” Vista House was built between 1916 and 1918 as a memorial to Oregon pioneers, a scenic viewpoint, and a comfort station for travelers on the Historic Columbia River Highway. The Vista House and its view are sure to amaze and inspire you.
