Even though we got rescheduled for the next day, which we didn't plan for, our instructor's knowledge and his personal attention to my daughter's learning was absolutely outstanding! It was her first ever surf lesson and she was worried if she could do it. John (the instructor) gave all his attention to her and really found an approach to keep her wanting to learn more. He was very patient, and spent hours with her! She loved it so much, that she is really considering surfing now!!

John is very passionate about surfing, and provided more information than I ever expected to get in an introductory surf lesson. He is very knowledgeable in all aspects of the sport, and presented information to me in a way that made it easy to understand. I enjoyed my first time surfing, and I can't wait to get on a board again!

I recommend a private surf lesson to anyone. The Email-contact with John was very nice and he always answered quickly. I had booked a certain time and date online but John suggested an earlier lesson because of better tide. The lesson itself started with a bit of exercise. John explained how you can generally keep in shape for surfing and why certain exercises are useful. Afterwards he explained how to wax a board. Before we finally started surfing, John advised to asked the local people when you surf in unknown regions and how waves develop. I really enjoyed myself a lot during the lesson and would love to come back soon!

Though John is a nice guy, we had such a bad experience. We went back an forth on a good time for us to arrive (during the lesson, he admitted he forgot we were coming) and landed on 2 pm. Once we arrived for the two-hour sessions, John was at the beach with another family. Not a big deal, we are from Florida (though a couple hours away) and were fine to wait. And wait we did! He was obviously stalling - to our detriment. He kept saying the family in front of us was having so much fun and he'd let them keep going. Again, not a big deal - but they had the only surf boards. After 1 hour and 45 mins into the 2 hour lesson, we were still not in the water. By the time we got in, it was almost 4 pm, and the waves were coming in hard. It was 30 mins of paddling against the waves and were not going anywhere. Then John said we should've come earlier and that he did not line online reservations. I wish he would've let me know when the best time to surf would have been, I wish he didn't prioritize that family over us, I wish he wasn't so exhausted from working with the family in front of us. Now I know this is a place is for kids and families to learn to surf, not for an adult couple. This surf lesson meant so much to us - I never expected that I'd be bawling in the parking lot over how we were treated. Maybe he had an off-day. He's an honest guy - he found my apple watch and mailed it back to me. That's a pretty solid thing to do - even if I paid for the shipping. He was just so blantent about stalling to get us into the water - again we didn't even touch the water until 1 hour/45 mins into the 2 hour lesson. Even if we got into the water 1 hour earlier, we could've actually surfed.
