Dungeness Crab Kayaking Trip in Bodega Bay

It was a terrific trip. My husband and myself went out with Spike. It was a beautiful day and lots of fun. You learn a lot, and bring home crab. We often go to Doran Beach for running and hiking and just enjoying. We often will see kayakers out on the Bay, and wanted to try it for ourselves. It was a great experience!

I tried to contact the company prior to making reservations, but the voicemail was full. I went ahead and booked the trip. I got a call later that night from the owner. He gave me the run down on everything need. My group preped everything on the list. Oh and everthing included dose not include fishing liceses, wersuits or boot, the park pass and a few other items. The week of the trip I email the owner twice, no response. I then called two days before the trip. The owner would not commit to the trip saying he would need to check conditions and call back the next day. I did get a call but it was to cancel or reschedule. The reason given was poor cacth leading up the day of the reservation, this was not one of the items mentioned in the contact that would cause the trip to be canceled. The day that we would have gone out was forcasted to be the best weather conditions since the crab seasoned opened and turned out as predicted. I personally saw multiple kayaks out in the bay. Unfortunately, I and my group were not one of lucky ones. After the trip was canceled I did recieve a refund but was admonished by the owner for having unrealistic expecations though he was the one that did not comunicate and caused me and my group to waste our time and money in prepping for a trip that seemed as if the company was not intrested in honoring. I was really looking forward to this trip and was so disappointed. To top it off the owner went out the day before and after which were much worse days.

Spike is knowledgeable, throughly accommodating and well-organized. Couldn't have asked for a better experience!

Coolest experience.. fishing (crabbing) from a kayak in the ocean!! And Spike is the best guide... other than being a total kick in the pants, he's patient, knowledgable, and great at explaining things in a way you understand... so you catch the most sea creatures without falling off your kayak and drowning. Anyway, it's the best!

It was a fabulous day made extra special with Spike's expertise and festive vibes. Would recommend and we will book this excursion again undoubtedly...
