Fabulous Kilimanjaro climbing. - As a solo female traveler I was a bit apprehensive about my trip to Tanzania. However Altezza was fabulous! The online booking agent Rita helped with all the pre-trip concerns and the Tanzanian staff were wonderful. I was picked up at the airport and taken to a beautiful hotel in Moshi. The guides (Joseph, Adrian, Regis & Calvin), porters, chef, servers (Ezekiel & Justin) and fellow group members made this climb memorable. We were even served a wedding cake half way up the mountain for the newlyweds on their honeymoon! I highly recommend Altezza for climbing Kilimanjaro.

Love Altezza!! So thankful for the experience and highly recommend!! - I just completed a 7 day Machame route hike with Altezza, and all I can say is WOW. Wow for the crew that took us to the top, for the food and comfort and service levels provided at all times, and finally for the genuine support and encouragement delivered to my group throughout the trek. I’ve included a few more details below: First, let’s talk about the edges of the trip — I had a great pre-trip advisor Nadia who was always available via email and WhatsApp to answer my questions in the 4ish months leading up to my trip. Then I 2 amazing drivers (James, from JRO —> hotel and Esteriana from the hotel —> JRO). These individuals were wonderful in welcoming me and seeing me off, which honestly just speaks to the integrity of Altezza as a company. My orientation manager Katherine, who did my gear check and briefed me on a bit more of what to expect on the hike, was also wonderful. The hotel Altezza puts you at — the Aishi Machame hotel — is very nice as well and a great way to start and end the trip. Second, there was the actual crew for the hike and the service levels provided. There were 11 of us (hikers), and we had 5 guides plus 52 additional individuals to support our climb. This group of people was one of the most impressive high performing teams I have ever witnessed, and my group would never have gotten to the top without them. In particular, our head guide Joshua, as well as our other guides Hilltone, Imran, Lema, and Neema were so outstanding in their leadership and care of the hikers, as well as their knowledge of the mountain and their actual hiking capabilities. They helped us all through some of the trickier moments, encouraging us and proposing to us where to put our feet, how to rely on our poles, what pace to go, etc. Our camp manager made sure our tents were set up flawlessly and our bags were in our tents by the time we got to camp. Our chefs, Hassan and Rama, prepared literally such delicious food three times per day for us, and our dining crew Immanuel and Baraka served it to us and made sure we had everything we needed at every meal time. I also rented a toilet at camp sites, and the toiled attendant Hashim was so wonderful. Having this service made camping (where it can be very cold) much more comfortable when I had “to go” in the middle of the night, and I am so grateful for Hashim’s dedication to his job and the provision of this service. I honestly didn’t know what to expect, but given that we were literally camping, I was not expecting such a thoughtful,l experience. The team delivered more than I have experienced at some of the allegedly “most luxurious” hotels in the world. It was honestly unbelievable what the team was able to do. On summit night, which is definitely the most strenuous part of the trip, our head guide Joshua set the pace, our other 4 guides were with us, and an additional group of summit assistants (aka guides in training) came with us. At about hour 4 (2/3 of the way to the summit) one of the summit assistants, Brian, took my bag for me to lighten my load. He stayed with me the rest of the hike as well as the descent, making sure I ate and drank fluids and checking in with me the whole way. While I would have kept going without him, having his support changed my whole experience for the better and made summiting that much more manageable and enjoyable. Additionally, he and one of the other Summit Assistants, Farragut, who was also wonderful, saw me down the mountain with a couple other of the hikers. There were other group members who had needed support throughout the whole trip and then also needed significant support on summit night, and the Altezza team was there for them literally the entire journey. The team is so positive and encouraging and clearly committed to helping people realize their Kili goals — it was amazing to watch how everyone worked together to support us, and it inspired our 11-person hiking group to do the same for each other. Overall, I cannot say enough good things about Altezza, and 10/10 would recommend them to anyone who is interested in climbing. I will add one more thing which is that, while Altezza will do everything in their power to get you to the top, they can’t do the work of preparing beforehand, so make sure you run, do the stair master, and hike as much as you can to get your VO2 levels up so you have the best chance of summitting with all the support Altezza provides. Thank you Altezza team for an incredible experience!! Will miss you all and am so thankful to have gone to Kili with you!!

Aaamazing Kili trip - This company is definitely the best decision you'll make when planning your Kili hike! From the start to the end, they were professional and showed absolutely care and dedication to making our journey successful to the top. Stanford, Wizen, and Urio were outstanding guides that made the journey incredible. Not only were the knowledgeable but also made us feel safe and supported to the top and back down. All of 10 of us in the group submitted thanks to the amazing guides and team of porters. Before the hike, my son unexpectedly needed medical attention. The Altezza team quickly arranged for us to see a doctor and get the necessary medical tests done. It really helped us to hike without stress. The staff of Altezza was well prepared and well-organized, I had a lot of altitude sickness symptoms, they gave me good advise and medications to help me summit. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great experience.

Amazing! - I have nothing but amazing things to say about Altezza, Stanford (our mountain guide), his crew and this whole experience! From the very start at airport pickup, everything was easy and professional! We were so well taken care of and showed the best time on the mountain! Our whole team made it to the top and I think we owe so much of that to the careful planning and encouragement of Stanford and his team! Would 100% recommend them to ANYONE who wants to climb kili!

Trip of a lifetime - Awesome experience and Altezza made everything so easy: airport pickup, great meals, clean hotel with amenities, safari tour, but by far the mountain guides, Stanford and his porter crew, were absolutely amazing! They were so helpful, I didn't have to worry about anything. It was amazing to see them set up and take down camp and carry everything.

One Team. One Dream. - Great experience with Altezza and two of my grown kids. Scheduling restricted my group to a rainy season tour but conditions were more favorable than I expected. We had the mountain largely to ourselves! We had a group of six people, all 20 and 30-somethings except me at 69. Four reached the summit. As a team, we were a positive bunch. We stuck to our timeline and I was impressed by the attentiveness of the 34 guides and porters. On the mountain, it was clear Altezza was the best equipped to handle all contingencies. Gear, food, medical check-ins, hotel, and a safari day add on were all awesome. The portable toilet was definitely worth it. Special shout outs to lead guide Rashid, and fellow guides Nolesco (❤️) and Frances. Also thanks to Maggie, Albert, Bill Daddy, Hussein, David, Simon, Solomon, Patrick. And everyone else. Loved the place and the people so much! I highly recommend.

Amazing experience with Altezza on the 7-Day Machame Route - I couldn't have dreamt up a better Kilimanjaro experience than the one I had with Altezza. We chose the Machame 7-day itinerary during rainy season as it was the only time that would work with our schedules. Our guides - Rashid, Nolasco, and Frances - were truly top-notch. Their leadership, energy, passion for Kilimanjaro, and overall enthusiasm were felt at all hours and on all terrain. Alongside the guides, we had fantastic summit assistants in Simon, Soloman, and Margaret, all of whom were helpful, friendly, and very knowledgeable. Each day, our campsite was prepared for us all in thanks to the hardworking porters who joined us on this route and we had the most amazing meals by chef Albert. I felt so spoiled by David, our 'waiter', when he would wake us up in our tents with coffee or tea and "Big Daddy", our camp master, who helped ensure things were running smoothly at each campsite. Everyone was so quick to lend a helping hand whether we needed assistance putting on our gaiters, filling our water, washing off our boots, or staying warm with our cute tent bunnies. No detail was left behind in ensuring a wonderful experience for the 6 of us trekking. I felt safe with our twice-daily med checks, briefings on the ensuing day's hike, gear to wear, and preparations to make. Altezza's emphasis on safety as the top priority was ubiquitous. The gear that we rented was of the best quality and as I learned on the hike, quality gear makes all the difference. I learned so much from the entire team that put in tremendous work to help make my summit and overall experience a success. I will happily recommend Altezza to all friends and family who express interest in hiking Kili.

Perfect Kilimanjaro climb via the Machame Route - UPDATED April'25: I wanted to highlight this review again, after completing the EBC Trek with another provider (Follow Alice: where the decline in service was astounding: no oxygen provided, $10 food budget/limited water and food supplies, poor English speaking guide). Please TRUST Altezza and don't even consider other options. They will make sure you are safe, fed and well taken care of! ORIGINAL July'24: I just completed the seven day Machame route and wanted to give a shout out to each Altezza Team member who made this journey unforgettable! Ten (10*) stars go to Vlada (Sales Manager at the HQ office) and Doris (Tour Manager at the hotel in Moshi). Vlada has been my rock for many months, answering countless questions and making sure I have all the right information needed. She e-held my hand and was invaluable when it came to preparation and successful onboarding. She offered suggestions and made certain accommodations to ensure I got all I needed prior to departure. Then came Doris, who greeted me at the hotel, offered help and gave orientation to ensure I am ready for the adventure. Moreover, she assisted with any unexpected requests I had (room, dinner, rentals, packing) and her professionalism as well as super friendly attitude made me feel very welcomed and taken care of! Then came the Guides: Under the exceptional leadership of Stanley Minja (a passionate dude who previously reached the summit 200 times, including a bike ride), all Guides made sure that I successfully completed the trek and summited Uhuru. I want to profoundly thank Stanley, Emanuel, Jonas, Beltram, Godfrey and Eric for all the support and encouragement as well as the help during the summit night - I could have not done it without you! Altezza is definitely the biggest employer in Moshi, hiring the best Staff and making sure the service is top quality. They have the best camping spots (far away from the entrance/exit, allowing quiet nights), the best food (our Chef should get a Michelin star, serving new dishes every day, and the best soups in the world), the best porters and servers (61 people made my tour possible), and last but not least, medically trained Guides who came through when needed (we had two emergencies that ended in a helicopter rescue). The whole Altezza Team worked very hard to ensure our experience exceeds our expectations. I even got a birthday cake, which was completely mind blowing, given we were above the clouds and they somehow pulled it off! In regards to the climb in general: To say the physical experience to the top was a challenge is a complete understatement. Having previously only been up to 14,000 ft, 19,340 ft was insane! Every day was demanding, with lots of distance to cover, rock scrambling and other obstacles. The elevation gain every day was intense but the Guides made sure we are taking it one step at the time. The “pole pole” pace was infuriating at first (I’m an experienced trekker so I felt we moved in a snail pace), but paid off at the end when climbing up to the summit required everyone to slow down and be humble. The Guides acted as guardian angels on the summit night - they put clothes on us, fed us, gave us water, held our hands all the way to the top, while everyone was fighting the altitude sickness, unable to take care of themselves. I was feeling great day 1-5, but was totally out of it on day 6, throwing up and having difficulty breathing when summiting - each Guide helped me at one point, and the porter (Nickson Isaria) carried my backpack which helped tremendously. I stood at the summit grateful for all of them and can highly recommend Altezza as the best outfitter in Tanzania. Was there anything that didn’t go well? Absolutely! There were several things that could use improvement and I shared my thoughts with Altezza team separately. But what you need to keep in mind is the perspective. This is a huge expedition and what matters is the big picture, not the small stuff. This is a very mentally challenging trek. The mountain brought the worse in me: I went from mental state of uncontrolled happiness to deep sadness, darkest anxiety and pure anger. I cried being happy, I cried being scared. That being said, if there were things that weren’t perfect, I understand. What matters most is that all 14 of us summited and returned home safe & sound, hence the 5 star review. I would sign up again!
