The Call of the Desert

As someone who’s spent a lifetime chasing adrenaline, the idea of a camel ride might seem tame. But when I heard about the Camel Ride Adventure in Cabo, I knew I had to experience it for myself. The thought of riding a camel along the pristine beaches of Los Cabos, with the Pacific Ocean as my backdrop, was too enticing to resist.

Our adventure began with an exhilarating ATV ride along the beach and dunes, setting the tone for the day. The wind whipped through my hair as we sped towards the camel area, the ocean waves crashing beside us. Our guide, Ted, was a master behind the wheel, making the ride as thrilling as any mountain descent I’ve tackled.

Upon arrival, we were introduced to the camels, each with their own unique personality. I was paired with a gentle giant named Blondie, while my fellow adventurer rode Killer. The camels were surprisingly comfortable, with seats equipped with stirrups, making the ride smooth and enjoyable. As we set off along the beach, the sight of whales breaching in the distance added an unexpected thrill to the journey.

A Dance with Camels

Riding a camel is unlike any other experience. There’s a rhythm to their gait, a gentle sway that lulls you into a state of relaxation. But don’t be fooled; these creatures are powerful and majestic, each step a testament to their strength.

Our guide shared fascinating insights into the camels’ history and how they came to “retire” in this paradise. It was heartwarming to see how well they were cared for, and I couldn’t help but feel a connection to these incredible animals.

The highlight of the ride was a photoshoot with a younger camel, who delighted in eating carrots from our hands—and even our mouths! It was a playful moment that captured the essence of the tour: a blend of adventure, culture, and pure joy.

Beyond the Camels

After our camel ride, we were treated to a visit to the Lovebirds’ sanctuary. The vibrant colors and melodic songs of these birds added another layer of enchantment to the day. It was a serene contrast to the adrenaline-fueled start, a reminder of the diverse beauty of Cabo.

Our photographer, Tito, captured every moment of our journey, from the windswept ATV ride to the gentle camel trek. The photos were a perfect memento of an unforgettable day, and the price was surprisingly reasonable.

As the sun rose higher in the sky, we made our way back, the memories of the morning etched in our minds.
