- Miradouro da Graca (Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen) - From the viewpoint of Graça, there is a panoramic view of the city of Lisbon. Looking towards the river Tagus, the hill of the castle of S. Jorge is a must for visitors. The flat area to the right of the castle hill is Baixa, the area rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake and bordered by Rossio and Figueira squares on one side and Praça do Comércio by the river. Further to the right we have Chiado, with the ruins of the Carmo Church and Santa Justa lift. Further on, we can see the 25 April bridge and Christ statue.
In the foreground, you can see the neighborhood of Mouraria and Martim Moniz Square, where the tram 28 starts and ends. Right in front is the viewpoint of S. Pedro de Alcântara and Bairro Alto.
- Access to Graça’s viewpoint
The walking tour gives us the best of three worlds. It starts with the view from the Graça viewpoint with the castle almost at your fingertips and the Mouraria neighborhood at your feet. Further away is Chiado, elegant Lisbon, and Bairro Alto, bohemian Lisbon. Extend your gaze to see the 25 de Abril bridge and the statue of Christ.
Unlike other neighborhoods, Graça is still the place where you can find authentic and traditional Lisbon. On this visit, you can see the working-class neighborhood of Vila Bertha, an example of early 20th century architecture.
The year 2021 saw a boom in street art in Lisbon. In just a few meters we will have the opportunity to see three examples of world-class street artwork.
At the end of the tour, we have two of the iconic buildings of Lisbon, the Pantheon, and the St.Vincent monastery. On Thursdays and Saturdays, the flea market is the grand finale, but on all other days, there is no shortage of attractions in Campo Santa Clara.
