Camel ride through the Dunes of Maspalomas - We had already had the experience of riding a camel on other islands such as Lanzarote (next to Timanfaya) and Fuerteventura (near some volcanoes in the north). So we decided to try it on the dunes. In itself the experience well, they have 3-4 camel caravan sticks, very friendly guides and the walk that lasts about half an hour pretty. The bad thing is that you don’t have fixed time, you go on a first come, first served basis, you are assigned the camels and if you don’t have it pre-purchased you may not be able to ride a month like August. We have to get there as soon as possible. However, we were unlucky that there was a small storm at dawn that day, even with rain. That took over an hour and we had to wait. Although the person who was organizing that was able to overtake us waiting for some group that wasn’t completed, so we didn’t have to wait too long either. Thank you very much. Deep down it was worth it for doing the activity. It would be advisable for them to organize better, doing so basically with paper and pen.

Good. - We booked online and went first thing. Once you get there you get a number and you have to wait your turn. They have shaded areas for waiting. The animals look well looked after and the staff very loving to the animals. Good experience. Recommended

Camel ride and disorganization in line - An interesting tour by the fact of riding a camel, is a pleasant ride of about 30 minutes, little more... people are friendly, but the entrance is a little chaos, the order of arrival is not respected, we were treated openly and the one who first passes the gate, even if it sneaks, nothing happens to them does not care, that must improve it, certainly with me they do not count for another and I do not recommend it

Not worth it - We arrived at 09:30 and queued for an hour to get to the front of the queue only then to be told we had to wait another hour for our ride. When the ride finally came, the 'guide' leading the camels spent the entire time on his phone whilst we were walked at an unbearably slow pace. It would have been much better to have had some information about the camels and the dunes. The staff were friendly and facilities clean. Whilst the camels do seem well cared for, they are wearing metal muzzles which dont look great at all. Overall I would say this is not at all worth it.

So disappointing! Masoalomas dunes are beautiful but the trek is through the scrub land in a long and very slow chain of sad loo - Very disappointing! The trek wasn't the kind of experience we were expecting. Maspalomas dunes are beautiful but this was in the scrub land with no dunes to be seen, using a long chain of very sad looking camels unfortunately.

Too much waiting time, for what it is - The experience was very disappointing. We had to wait a very long time under a blazing sun, with more than 40 degrees, without a single fan to relieve the heat. Just a water machine, which admitted one euro coins. Conditions were unfortunate, especially for older people or with young children. In addition, when booking we were given neither an estimated time nor clear information about waiting times. The organization leaves much to be desired. We would not repeat and, honestly, we do not recommend it if you value your time and well-being

Animal cruelty & money making! - Myself and partner were told great things about the camel rides over the dunes, so we walked up and the scenery looked amazing. We arrived at what was a small facility, and booked a ticket (prior to seeing any camels). We waited and saw the first group of camels come back, they looked exhausted. They had awful cages over their faces and some pushed against their noses. Their fur didn’t look clean either. They were not given anything to drink whilst on their ‘break’ before the next group and would just be laid down chained together by rope in between tours. When it was our turn on the camels we sat down and in order to make the camels stand the staff would yank at the rope attached to their heads or smack them. The camels would slowly stand whilst grunting, seemingly unsteady on their feet. We were at the back of our tour and on the back legs of the camel in front, it had scars all over it, from a whip. This is what got us going and since then it was such a downer. Poor things. The ride itself wasn’t too bad. More of a walk through a sandy public footpath rather than the dunes itself. I would not pay into this kind of animal cruelty again.

Animal cruelty at its best - Horrible Was told online weight limit was 110kg to find out on day it was changed to 100kg meaning one of our party couldn’t ride by 2kg The camels where hit constantly as they didn’t want to walk faster seems a cruel practice in todays world and seemed to be unhappy wearing makeshift chicken wire muzzles would not recommend at all you don’t go over the dunes just the public foot way in the scrubland next to it

Underwhelmed - An underwhelming experience. The only fun part was trying to stay balanced when the camel stood up and laid down. The walk was through the scrubland rather than across the beautiful dunes. The pace was very slow and the camels were lashed together and muzzled with a sort of cage. Their joints looked like they spent a long time on their knees so they were stiff. Queuing was disorderly and one of the organisers took photos of each camel rider but there was no instruction as to whether they could be purchased. A little information about camels would also have made for a more interesting experience. It's not something I would do again in a hurry.
