Ephesus (Rev. 2:1-7), a major port city on the Aegean, was the commercial, political, and religious hub of Asia Minor. The Apostle Paul’s first visit to Ephesus was brief—during his second missionary tour (Acts 18:19-21). His second visit lasted about three years—during his third missionary tour (Acts 19:1 to 20:31). Luke’s account of the worship of Diana is in Acts 19:34-35. The Great Theatre (stadium) mentioned in Acts 19:29-31 could seat 25,000 people. Visit the Chapel of the Virgin Mary (Double Church), where the Third Ancient Council convened.
• Meryemana (The Virgin Mary’s House) - The House of Virgin Mary is located on the Aladag Mountains, 5 miles from Ephesus. At the third Ecumenical Council in 431 AD in Ephesus, it was claimed that Mary came to Ephesus with St. John in 37 A.D. and lived there until her death in 48 A.D. After the house’s discovery, the Archbishop of Izmir declared it a place of pilgrimage in 1892. On July 26, 1967, Pope Paul VI visited and prayed there.

• The Basilica of Saint John - After a lunch break near Ephesus in a local restaurant, the tour proceeds to St. John’s Basilica. It is believed that the evangelist St. John spent his last years in the region around Ephesus and was buried on the southern slope of Ayosolug Hill.
• The Temple of Artemis - The tour will stop at the Artemision Temple, once one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, as the last stop before returning to Kusadasi port/hotel.
• Kusadasi - Return to Kusadasi city center and port after the tour.
