Excellent Experience - I was originally scheduled for a two-tank boat dive that was cancelled at the last minute due to the dive master's illness. I was keen to dive sometime during my remaining two days in Hilo. The staff at the dive shop were quite friendly and made an extraordinary effort to locate a dive master in my brief remaining time there to accommodate me, although no boat captain could be found on such short notice. Thus, I had a shore dive instead. I am not keen on shore dives, having to navigate over rocks and into some significant surf that day, especially after having recently recovered from a broken leg. However, dive master, Chad, assisted me every step of the way! Thus, I was able to view the underwater sea life off Hilo for the first time. Chad was very personable and fun to chat with. He was also very professional, and I felt completely safe diving with him at this lovely location. I would highly recommend this company to anyone planning to dive on the Hilo side of the island!

Beauty day diving - Arriving on a cruise ship made getting around not so easy. The shop was very accommodating with picking me up enroute to the dive site. Gabe , a great dive guide kept contact making it easy to figure out the best pickup spot. On time we were all heading to turtle cove. Gabe was very professional and thorough with his pre dive briefing. Both dives were great. One turtle , a couple scorpion fish, one eel and a couple beautiful nudibranch Waters were calm but as explained on their website, entrance was a little tricky but exciting. All in all a fun day diving. I’d definitely go with them again. Oh ya and snacks and drinks were provided during the surface interval.

Shore dive as good as a boat dive - I had my two Shore dives with divemaster Gabriel and he gave me beautiful tours. We saw lots of coral, several turtles, big puffer and even an eagle ray. Daniel showed me beautiful spots and gave me all the time I needed to make pictures. He was very helpfull and have me a very nice day diving. With a dive spot like this you don’t need to do a boat dive.

Great diving and lots of marine life! - Wonderful company to dive with! They were very responsive predive and communicative on the day of. I did two shore dives at Sea turtle cove and we had to dive off lava rocks and it was a bit tricky to get in and out. But there were lots of marine life to be seen, including turtles. The water was a bit murky that day but the diving was still great. Thanks Mark!

Treacherous shore dive entry point - The dive shop is an easy 20 minute walk from the cruise ship terminal. Online reservations were easy and we were able to choose a dive time that matched well with our ship’s arrival. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy this diving experience. The entry & exit of the shore dive was more challenging and dangerous than expected. The shore was rocky and it was difficult to bring our gear to the water and get our fins in the water once we were in. We had to climb down and walk over very uneven terrain; we had a companion fall into a small crevice with his full gear on and had to be helped to get up. We wish we had been told to wear a long wetsuit and even gloves as the rocks were sharp and many of us were cut and bleeding as we were going in and getting out of the water. We basically had to sit on the rocks and slowly ease our way into the surf. Putting on our fins was a challenge as we were fighting the surge and trying not to get rocked against the many rocks all around us; climbing out of the water had to be done on our knees which was difficult because of the surge. The dive itself was lovely once you were able to make it out of the rocky terrain but the experience was marred by our entry point. We chose to abort our second dive as we did not feel safe and we were worried about getting injured. There was no accreditation card check when we came to the dive shop nor was our medical form requested so, although our dive guide was good, we would be hesitant to recommend this dive shop and certainly would not recommend the shore dive unless you are experienced, had a full wet suit and gloves, and able to carry your gear over treacherous terrain and swim through a rocky sea bed. As master divers, we are experienced and always up for a challenge but this dive was too much for us.
