- King Abdullah Mosque - King Abdullah I Mosque – An Architectural and Religious Wonder
The King Abdullah I Mosque, with its striking blue dome, was constructed in the 1980s by the late King Hussein in honor of his grandfather. It welcomes non-Muslim visitors. The octagonal nave covers 1,615 m² and can host up to 3,000 worshippers without any interior columns.
The dome, with a diameter of 35 meters and a height of 31 meters, features a central golden star surrounded by the Ninety-Nine Most Beautiful Names of Allah. A stunning chandelier with 168 lanterns, arranged in three circles, bears Quranic verses and the name of Allah on each lantern.
Inside, a red decorative carpet symbolizes fertile land and directs worshippers towards the Kiblah. The walls, pulpit, and Mihrab are embellished with intricate wooden and marble paneling, highlighting exquisite Islamic craftsmanship.
