• Monastery of Sanahin - The ancient village of Sanahin is situated near the city of Alaverdi in the Lori province. This village is renowned for its namesake monastery complex, dating from the 10th to 13th centuries. Initially, Sanahin was established for monks exiled due to persecution by the Byzantine emperor. The complex was constructed under the direction of Armenian King Ashot III Voghormats (the Merciful) in 966. Over time, Sanahin evolved into both a spiritual and educational hub.
