Krakow-Auschwitz-Birkenau - Besides Auschwitz and Birkenau, Krakow was a brief but fantastic visit. AB Everest and Royalty Tour did a very good job with concise but detailed information.

Auschwitz Birkenau and Krakow - Our guide was knowledgeable, organized, and very personable. She was also passionate as her grandparents were forced to leave their home to make way for the concentration camps. Krakow is beautiful!!

Excellent - This was excellent. Yes it’s a long day but totally worth it. Everything was taken care of. The tour of Auschwitz-Birkenau was a bigger group and sometimes it was hard to hear but still very thorough.

Visit Auschwitz - Birkenau - The trip was very memorable and the driver was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the pick up time was changed to 350am from 5am. Instead of going on the train, we ended up going in a van that was not the most comfortable.

Chaotic and bad day - Any memorable moments were quickly dispelled by the utter chaotic ending of our day. Due to lack of communication with the local agent and sub agents we almost missed our train back to Krakow. The bus driver sped up and passed numerous cars and was able to get to our train with minutes to spare. But the flip side of this everyone on the bus had their lives endangered due to his driving . The other issue we should not have been on this bus as our tour specified this would be a private tour just for our group. This appeared to be another miscommunication with the local tour company. The van driver, Micael seemed very confused and told us just to get on the bus. I will also add during our tour of Auschwitz the tour girl didn't know how to operate her microphone. She would speak into it then turn her head and continue speaking so her voice would cut out. Then she would turn back, bump her mike causing static . Perhaps a better fitting microphone would help. Needless to say this was very annoying as we missed half of her narration. All in all with late pickups, lack of communication and some agents bordering on rudeness this was not a pleasant experience. We have used Viator for over 15 years and we will now think twice before using again.

A must see but disappointing experience - Witnessing Auschwitz is a must, but we were very disappointed with our tour. We requested a tour in English but were booked on one with a Polish guide. The operator did provide an unofficial interpreter, but the official guide was uncooperative, and we only were able to get about 20% of what the guide shared. In addition, the museum had too many people in each group and groups scheduled too close together. The result being we were rushed along the tour of the two camps and did not have the time to see everything or sufficiently process what we were seeing. We did appreciate the time to explore Krakow as part of this excursion, the arranged transportation and the hotel pick-up and drop.

Awful Transportation Arrangements - We purchased this tour as we were under the impression that this company would handle all of our transportation arrangements, thus removing the stress of finding our way as we journeyed from Warsaw to Krakow to Auschwitz. We were wrong. The company picked us promptly from our hotel. We arrived at the train station which was across the street from our hotel and the guide mentioned we could walk to our hotel from the train station. When we got to the train platform to Krakow, all of the arrangements we were sent just the night before (at approximately 5pm) were changed. When we arrived in Krakow, we would have the morning and meet our transportation at 1pm instead of going to Auschwitz first (she never said what type of transportation it would be, just that they would hold up a sign of the tour company). She handed us a map and told us where to go and meet our transportation. It was hard to hear her on the platform as she was facing three others that booked the tour and not facing my friend nor I and the platform was noisy. She also told us that, due to the time of our Auschwitz tour, we would be unable to take the high speed train back and would thus arrive back an hour later. We arrived in Krakow with a map and no idea of where to walk out of the train station to get to old town. As we had internet access (we are from the US), we were able to figure out where we were. Directions would have been very helpful. Directions were also not provided to the place where we had to meet but we figured it out and met the other seven people using the same tour company. As we were picked up in a van in Warsaw, we assumed we would have a van in Krakow. Buses and vans came and went and no sign. Finally, someone in our party started checking with the buses and vans and we found our very large bus (I found this surprising as there were only nine people with the same tour operator). We had been told by the tour operator that there were no large bags allowed in Auschwitz and that we could leave our bags with the driver. When we mentioned this to the tour guide, she told us that we had to take our bags with us and we could not leave them on the bus. When we arrived at Auschwitz, we were told we had a 10 minute restroom break. When we returned, everyone was lined up to go in. No one told us that we were expected to pick up tickets to enter. Thank goodness someone else that had booked with our tour company told us we needed tickets, where to get our tickets from and held our place on line. When we picked up our tickets, he asked us where we were. We said we were told about the restroom break; no one ever mentioned picking up tickets. When we went to take the bus to the second stop, my friend and I got on the bus and, even though there were a few empty seats going to Auschwitz, it was difficult for us to find empty seats going to the next stop. The reason being? They had people on our bus that had not paid for our bus and we were taking them to the next stop (paying customers should have boarded first and then those taking a ride to the camp taking the available seats, not the other way around). The tour guide finally offered me her seat when she realized there were no seats left and sat in the tour guide seat that is on the steps of the bus (my friend found a seat in the back). As the tour at the second stop went on, a gentleman asked me if anyone was keeping track of the time as we may miss our train going back. I told him that they would be responsible for missing the train. We boarded the bus back (no issue with seats this time) and the gentleman told me that they were going to drop us at the bus station. There was no way we would make our train. I started texting the tour operator through both Viator and WhatsApp. The tour guide on our bus came up and told us good news - since our train was delayed an hour, we would make our train. I did not find this to be good news as we would be getting back two hours later than we had originally planned. There was quite a bit of confusion as to where we would be dropped. After texting the tour operator multiple times with the confusion as to where we would be dropped off, I was told by the tour operator that they would drop us off as close to the train station as possible. We dropped the others off on the bus first that did not have to catch a train (which made no sense). They then brought us about a block away from the train station. We got off the train and the guide said, "You know where you are going, right?" Why would we know where we are going? Didn't we pay for arrangements? She then turned and walked us to the mall, through the mall to the station. She stopped us at a monitor at an escalator, told us which train was ours and left us. We decided to stick together as a group and that we would meet in 10 minutes so that we could find the train early. When we met, we went down the escalator where the guide had left us and quickly realized we were going in the wrong direction. We went back up the escalator and someone started walking. When I looked up, I saw the signs for the platforms overhead and we found our platform and train. When we got on the train, for five of us, our seats were in a compartment (which we were never told). We really thought we were on the wrong train. Once the conductor scanned our tickets, we knew we were on the right train. My friend and I were going to walk back to our hotel from the train station (as it was across the street). The others told us that we were not going back to that station but a different station (no one had pointed this out to us). Also, we kept checking the signs for the stops; no one told us that our stop would be the last stop. We were met promptly when arriving on the platform. As we booked this tour approximately 40 days prior to the trip, there was no reason for the last minute change in itinerary and also for the incorrect and lack of information we were provided. Directions should have been written out on where to exit the train station in Krakow, how to get to old town and how to get to the meeting point. In addition, information should have been provided on what vehicle we would be meeting in Krakow and a license plate number. This information should have also included information on the train we were taking back, noting the seats we had (compartment or regular) and that it would be a different return than departure point. We should have also been guided to our platform at the train station so that we would have known where to go, not to a monitor with an escalator. As someone who took this tour alone stated, "It's a good thing we all decided to stick together or I would be stressing." The whole point in booking this tour is so that there would be no stress. While I did prefer touring Auschwitz last, this tour could have been an hour earlier. My guess is that the tour operator books all of the tickets 24 hours in advance so that they are not stuck with tickets if someone cancels and gets what's left. I do not recommend this tour operator; find someone else that will contact you and be in charge of the arrangements all of the way through, not relying on another company for the travel arrangements to/from Auschwitz.
