The exploration includes a visit to the renowned wetlands south of Walvis Bay, a Ramsar Site, recognized as one of Southern Africa’s most significant coastal wetlands. During the summer months, up to 160,000 birds can be observed, including thousands of Greater and Lesser Flamingos, Damara Terns, Curfew Sandpipers, Chestnut-banded Plovers, and a variety of other shore and sea birds.
- Namib-Naukluft Park - The journey continues along a stunning dune belt towards the Namib Desert, with stops at some of the area’s tallest dunes. The tour proceeds into Namib-Naukluft Park to visit the “Moonscape,” a rugged, rocky landscape reminiscent of the moon’s surface. The next stop is Oasis Goanikontes in the Swakop Canyon, meaning “place of many trees.” This lush area, supported by groundwater in the dry riverbed, began as a farm in 1848, supplying ships in Walvis Bay with food and water. Today, it is a charming resort with a restaurant amidst the “Moonscape.”
- Swakopmund - The tour returns to the coast to explore the historic town of Swakopmund, Namibia’s premier holiday destination, founded in 1892 by the German Colonial Reich. Once the main harbor for the territory, the town’s mole and jetty still stand. Many historical buildings from that era are preserved as monuments, showcasing Swakopmund’s distinct German Colonial character, a major draw for tourists and entrepreneurs. The tour focuses on Swakopmund’s historical aspects, with the guide sharing the town’s history and the origins of its historical buildings. The tour also includes “millionaire’s mile,” the northern suburbs, and the townships. The day concludes with a return to Walvis Bay port in the afternoon.
