- Walvis Bay Waterfront - The Catamaran Cruise sets sail at 08:30 from the Waterfront and returns around 12:00. Along the way, passengers will see pelicans, seals, and often dolphins. On a fortunate day, there might be sightings of the Sunfish (Mola Mola) and even whales during the whaling season. Pelicans sometimes fly very close, and some may even land on the Catamaran. The cruise stops at the seal colony to view the impressive 50,000-strong seal population from the sea. Sammy the seal frequently jumps onto the back of the Catamaran, offering a great photo opportunity. Snacks such as sherry, beer, coffee, light finger foods, and oysters are served on board. Upon returning to the waterfront, a guide from Sandwichharbourtours.com will meet the group to take them to Sandwich Harbor. The time for embarking and disembarking the Catamaran is not included in the cruise duration (this takes about 20 minutes). Guests are picked up from their accommodation along the coast by a minibus at the designated start time. It is recommended to bring a wind jacket. For those on a cruise liner, the meeting point is at the ship, and guests will walk across to the Catamaran.
- Walvis Bay Esplanade - From the Waterfront, the tour proceeds to the Esplanade, stopping at the Pink Flamingos. The air is let out of the tires before continuing past the pink salt lakes onto the windswept shore, where many birds, seals, and even black-backed jackals can be seen on the way south to Sandwich Harbor.
- Sandwich Harbour - The journey continues south along the beach for 60 km, encountering a variety of bird species, both migratory and resident, including flamingos, pelicans, avocets, terns, and more. The tour enters the Namib Naukluft Park and reaches the towering dunes of Sandwich Harbor. The drive along the Lange Wand, where the sea meets the dunes, offers a narrow strip of beach to travel on, creating a unique and breathtaking experience. Tide timing is crucial. The dune views are stunning, and the ride to the viewpoint is like a rollercoaster, revealing the most beautiful sight: SANDWICH HARBOR, a bay with a lagoon, is incredibly beautiful. After enjoying the magnificent dune views, the tour heads back through the dunes. The dune drive includes various viewpoints and short dune walks, which are absolutely amazing. A light lunch is enjoyed at a scenic spot along the route. The tour also includes a small game drive to search for desert wildlife. The return journey follows the same beach route back to Walvis Bay.

Perfect trip with the boat and in the dunes - We first went outside with the boot and saw dolfins, the seals an a wale. That was so amazing. The Crew was really friendly and we had a nice lunch on the boot. A special event was the visit of a seal on the boat and the feeting of the seagulls. After that we made the dune drive. That was really cool, the guide war very friendly, we learned a lot, cruised around, and had a picnic in the dunes, which was really nice. We saw pelicans, flamingos and cormorans. It was a perfect day!

Great experience - The views and guides were amazing. It is a great place to bring your kids- they loved the pelicans on the boat and riding the dunes. Our guide was Dennis who was excellent.

A day full of adventure - My boyfriend and me (22 and 25) had great fun on this full-day excursion!
In the morning, we did a catamaran cruise in the harbour area of Walvis Bay and saw a variety of marine animals such as pelicans, seals and even a humpback whale. After the cruise, we got picked up by our guides Volker and Tongai for the Sandwich Harbour 4x4 Drive. I have to say, this was definitely the highlight of the day!! Driving around the dunes felt like a rollercoaster and the views of the ocean were unbelievable. We even spotted some whales once more! This part of the tour was a lot more personal as it was just us, the guides and another guest in the car. Felt like a group of friends having an adventure :)
Volker and Tongai were both extremely knowledgeable, funny and also very skilled at photography 😁 they made sure that we learn a lot, but also have some good laughs all afternoon. Thank you guys!!
There were free drinks (water, coke, beer, cider) all day, pick-up and drop-off at our accommodation went really smoothly.
The only critique I have is that I requested vegetarian meals and that seems to have been forgotten. There was still something to eat for me, just not a huge selection.
All in all, I would totally recommend doing this when you're in the area! Don't miss out on the 4x4 drive, I had the time of my life.

Sulle dune Stephan Number 1! - We spent an afternoon on the dunes! Thanks to the skill of Stephan, our driver, who also guided us the whole way, we managed to climb in unthinkable places. It was really beautiful and exciting. It was all concluded with a lunch on the dunes with an ocean view. Highly recommended experience to do only with experienced drivers like Stephan, who manage to drive on the dunes in total safety.

Best day out in Swakopmund - An excellent day that encompassed time on the water and time in the dunes. we were picked up from our guesthouse in Swakopmund and transferred to Walvis bay for the boat excursion. Pelicans and seals were the stars of the show and I was fortunate to see a whale as well. I even tried oysters for the first time. It was very cold on the water so wrap up well (blankets are provided). We were then met on the wharf for the next part of the day - driving the dunes to see Sandwich harbour. We stopped on the way to see the flamingos and salt ponds. Lunch on the dunes was amazing. Overall it was an incredible day and well worth it if you’re short on time in Swakopmund.
