Highlights
  • Icelandic Mountain Guides by Icelandia - Mýrdalsjökull Base Camp - The tour begins base nearby the Mýrdalsjökull glacier in South Iceland. We start by going over the tour plan and safety instructions. From the base we cross some small rivers and head down to the black lava sands fields which derives from the dormant volcano Katla. Down by the black beach we stop and enjoy the amazing view up to the Mýrdalsjökull glacier and along the coast to the southernmost part of Iceland, the small peninsula Dyrhólaey. We then head along the coast to the famous aircraft wreck, from there we continue to the river Jökulsá and up to the foot of the mountain. Upon our return we follow the mountain back to the base.

The ATV experience itself lasts approximately 2 hours. You will ride 2 people per ATV, with one driving and one as a passenger. If you are traveling alone, or in an odd-numbered group (3, 5, 7 etc.) there is an additional charge payable locally for single riders.

The adventure will provide stunning photo opportunities in good weather, so don’t forget to bring your camera!

Wonderful experience and help - An amazing experience with so well-prepared monitors. They were really helpful with our problem with the early cancellation of the snowmobile tour due to weather conditions giving us plenty of options and support. The trip was really nice with many the places to be seen such as the Black Lava Sand Beach, the DC3 and the valley of a glacier. We will repeat someday for sure. Thanks for everything

A great experience - Great experience! Our snow scooter tour was canceled deu to the high temperatures. This quad tour was a perfect alternative. A 2 hours ride through a black “ moon landscape”, crossing small rivers and 2 Nice stops. 1 at the black beach and one at the DC-3 from the US army.

Best Guides! - So incredibly thankful for the amazing people at Icelandic Mountain Guides! We had originally booked a snowmobile excursion through a third party, but somehow lines were crossed and the excursion was canceled due to weather and we weren’t informed until we arrived at the location. Luckily the staff onsite said we could do an ATV tour instead and took us out to the plane wreak. Hinrik and Bjarki were amazing and we had so much fun out in the snow. They were patient, knowledgeable, and incredible guides. Amazing tour, incredible views, and overall great time!

BEST TRIP EVER - I can only recommend this to everyone who wants to do tours that are more action-like instead of sitting in a bus all day. Also I cannot not mention our unforgettable guide Magni who took so great care of us! He was very funny, entertaining while making sure everyone is safe. Just exquisite ✨ I will remember this trip for the rest of my life.

I will remeber this for years to come! - Our tour with our fun, professional, knowledgable and funny guide Magni was absolutely incredible!! We are proficient with quad bikes so it was very very nice to go out on a tour with someone who would allow us to cut loose a little and have fun our way, all very safely though. this terrain is nothing to laugh at but I was amazed at how fun this ride was!

"Shortened tour, 630 euros wasted." - We participated in the 12:30 tour, arriving at 12:20. I asked for details about the tour and was told that there were only four of us at that time, so we could start whenever we wanted. Upon receiving this response, we assumed the tour would last two hours, so we thought it would be best to have lunch beforehand, which we did. Then at 12:45, the guide came and suggested moving the tour at 15:00, but since we had other plans, we didn’t accept. From that moment on, his attitude changed, stating that if that was the case, our tour time would be cut because we have lunch. After this, we quickly finished eating and left with him, and his impatient face was evident. The tour consisted of 30 minutes of explanation, 40 minutes of driving, 10 minutes at the black beach, and 10 minutes at the airplane wreck. As soon as we took out our cameras, he started urging us to return. Throughout the return journey, he stayed at least 100 meters ahead of us, showing complete disregard. Personally, it was a very negative experience.
