- Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna - Built by Emperor Franz Joseph to house the splendid imperial collections, it is now one of the world’s most important museums. Artefacts from ancient Egypt to classical antiquity to the late 18th century document the patronage and connoisseurship of the art-loving members of the House of Habsburg. In the Picture Gallery you can see celebrated master-pieces by Rubens, Rembrandt, Raphael, Vermeer, Velázquez, Titian and Durer, as well as the world’s largest collection of works by Bruegel. At the Kunstkammer Vienna goldsmith’s works such as the famous saliera by Benvenuto Cellini, sculptural masterpieces, filigree works in ivory, valuable timepieces and complex automata by the best and most famous artists of the day – each item unique in the world – provide an unrivalled cross-section through the history of art. Equally enjoyable for every art-lover is the magnificent building itself with its imposing staircase featuring a series of paintings on which Gustav Klimt collaborated.

One of Vienna's most interesting sites - For art lovers. Very varied collections, you can spend hours there.
The interior of the building is beautiful.
I do not understand why there are very negative opinions about the reception at the entrance. On the contrary, we met very friendly and efficient staff. Tickets purchased on the KHM website allow you to enter without queuing.

Private Tour - painting gallery - Kunsthistorisches - We arranged for a private tour (90 euros+admission) of the painting gallery. Wow! Alex, the guide, did a wonderful job. As we went from room to room, Alex focused less on individual pieces of art and more the timeframe and the progression of art, e.g. perspective, light/shadows, and why the Hapsburg collected/did not collect certain pieces of art. It was a wonderful way to view the art. Plus, we learned a great deal.

a must see - well worth buying the ticket to skip a really long queue, once inside there is a wealth of art and pieces. you will need a good chunk of the day to get around. the building itself is stunning and a lovely cafe for a well earned break

Great experience - Beautiful collection and large numbers of items. Loved the museum . We spent four hours just in palace even then not enough. All sections were maintained nicely

if you love works by Brueghel, you must visit this museum - plus it has paintings by Klimt! - The picture gallery has the largest collection of paintings by Peter Brueghel in the world. Many of his major works are here. In addition, there are classic paintings by Klimt on the wall over the main staircase. Ask if you are unable to locate them. The museum also has important works by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Durer, Holbein and Velazquez. The Special Exhibit: Nature's Time: Arcembolodo - Bassano - Brueghel was included with the entry ticket.

Interesting experience. Even for families. - The part I liked the most was the Egyptian exhibition. Very well preserved sarcophagi and many canopic vases. I compliment the Greek Attic ceramics.

No such thing as “skip the line.” - There is no “Skip the Line” which is very misleading. At the inside museum entry I was directed get in line at the ticket booth/kiosk for a voucher. The lines were long so I queued up like everyone else. Finally I got inside after waiting in line. Your advertising is unethical.

Ticket for the kunstoriches museum Vienna - Ticket purchased in advance with TripAdvisor and not directly with the museum, so deny entry yes to the outdoor booth ask for a Voucher. The ticket counter changes the ticket for a ticket that the museum recognizes.... And the queue is getting longer!

I can't get into the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna. - This barcode did not allow entry. We negotiated again at the ticket office in front of us, but they refused if we couldn’t confirm the ticket with the one here (it was written in Japanese), and as a result we had to pay another 21 euros. I want a 21 euro refund. I don't recommend it at all.
