Additional Information

The emblem of contemporary Valencia in the 21st century is embodied in The City of Arts and Sciences. The distinctive architecture, created by Santiago Calatrava, captures elements of science, art, humanity, nature, motion, and the Mediterranean light, all in a 2km complex. After a leisurely 20-minute stroll, one can connect with the Mediterranean Sea as it looked in 2007 during the America’s Cup sailing competition. The ‘Veles e Vents’ building, designed by British architect David Chipperfield, served as the official hub for elite guests and sightseers. Today, it’s the ideal gathering spot due to its array of bars and restaurants and is accessible from spring through fall.

A Must in any trip to Valencia - If you only have time for two things to do in Valencia, this and the Cathedral are a must. The Salvatore Calatrava is a magnificent example of modern architecture. One night we even went to the Opera House for a performance. When there you should also go to the Aquarium…it’s one of the best in Europe.

Loved this place - We visited on our cruise itinerary and had a fabulous time. The modern architecture was amazing and gave us some great photos for the album. Definitely recommend pre-booking for the aquarium - we didn’t and didn’t have the time to wait in the queues although it was a Spanish holiday weekend and this probably contributed to how busy it was.

Full days entertainment: in an out of this world architectural complex that consists of possibly the best Oceanogràfic - The complex covers 2 KM, and consists of 6 separate buildings: Science Museum, arts centre (opera, arts. etc), Oceanogràfic etc... you can choose which you visit or purchase a combined ticket. I would highly recommend the Oceanogràfic - amazing because its so varied and has so many species to view - dolphins, belugas, walruses, sea lions, seals, penguins, sharks, crocodiles, fish and different marine environments. Also there's a exhibition taking place in the dolphinarium, normally I don't really enjoy this form of entertainment but the dolphins appear to have such a wonderful, positive relationship with the trainers... Its a real pleasure for dolphin lovers... Allow minimum 2-3 hours for Oceanogràfic. Its worth noting that you can visit and walk around the complex free of charge, this is a real treat in itself as the architecture is amazing, surreal, and beautiful ... I would suggest that you allow a full day to really enjoy the City of Arts and Science. It can be assessed by foot or bike (designated paths) through the 'Turia Park/gardens. The park is one of the largest urban parks in Spain. It runs through the city along nine kilometres of green space boasting foot paths, leisure and sports areas, and romantic spots where you can unwind. its a definite must do to any visitor to Valencia. Alternatively you can use public transport - Bus: 13, 15, 25, 35, 95, 99.

Awesome - Very nice museum. We learned a lot of new things. The museum may be a little boring at times but you can just go to the next room. And also beautiful architecture outside and inside the buildings. The hemispheric is also awesome.

Futuristic buildings in Valencia - Although we didn't go inside, these modern buildings are an amazing sight. Included are a science museum, planetarium, IMAX theater, performing arts center, and the largest aquarium in Europe.

Modern Buildings, Stark Urban Design - The buildings have dramatic design and are photogenic. But the urban design is stqrk and unwelcoming and as a result no one hangs around, especially on a sunny day when there is no shade. There are also no cafes. There are events that happen in these modern buildings. There was a rock concert when we were there. Lots of little girls in Barbie outfits.
