It is said that the chariot carrying the idol got stuck in the mud at Sihad village in Mewar, leading to the establishment of the idol in a temple constructed with the permission of the then Rana of Mewar. According to religious beliefs, the shrine at Nathdwara was built in the 17th century at the location designated by Shrinathji himself.
