This excursion is centered around Cades Cove and its encompassing 11-mile circular route. We will make a number of stops at historical structures and picturesque viewpoints as we delve into the history of the highlanders and illegal distillers who resided here. Of note are the cabin constructed in 1822, a burial ground housing the tombs of Revolutionary War and War of 1812 combatants, and a functioning grist mill. Additionally, we’ll be on the lookout for various wildlife such as deer, turkeys, bears, and coyotes. The majority of our stops require minimal to no walking, however, two locations will involve a half-mile stroll on paved pathways.
