Hadrian’s villa was an extensive complex of over 30 structures, spread over an expansive 250 acres, much of which remains unearthed. This villa was the epitome of Roman-influenced Alexandrian gardens, replicating a divine landscape.
The compound encased palaces, multiple thermal baths, a theatre, temples, libraries, state rooms and lodgings for courtiers, guards, and slaves. During your tour, you’ll have the chance to explore the Grand Thermal bath, Theatre, Villa Pool and Artificial Grotto among other fascinating and well-conserved areas of this archaeological site.
Following a brief drive to the higher part of Tivoli town, you’ll find yourself at Villa d’Este, home to an exquisite Baroque garden. Visiting Villa d’Este is akin to taking a mesmerizing trip back to the Baroque era. Stunning gardens, labyrinthine hedges and a plethora of fountains are the main attractions of this magnificent summer villa, built in 1550 for Cardinal Ippolito D’Este, offspring of the notorious Lucrezia Borgia.
