Nainokanoka – Bulati
Ngorongoro Crater - Post-breakfast, the trek begins through the highlands, passing numerous traditional Masai Bomas and their cattle, accompanied by a Maasai Guide. Shortly into the trek, wildlife such as Thompson and Grants Gazelle, zebras, and wildebeest may be spotted. Where there are many animals, hungry jackals are not far behind, and high above, majestic eagles survey the scene. After covering 16km, the campsite for the night is reached near the Maasai village of Bulati for dinner and an overnight stay.
Bulati – Empakai
Ngorongoro Crater - After breakfast, the trek ascends a hill offering a final panoramic view of the grass plains. The journey continues through a bushy landscape, eventually revealing the active volcano, Oldonyo Lengai. The trek provides stunning views of the majestic volcano and the impressive Empakai Crater before arriving at the campsite for the night. A well-maintained path leads to the crater’s bottom, where one-third is covered by Empakai Lake. This alkaline soda lake is a vital habitat for flamingos, observable year-round. Upon returning to camp, a delightful dinner awaits. At night, the calls of flamingos returning to their breeding nests at Lake Manyara and Lake Natron may be heard.
Empakai Crater – Acacia Camp
Ngorongoro Crater - After breakfast, the trek proceeds to the Masai village of Naiyobi. Following a well-marked path, both the village and Oldonyo Lengai are visible from afar. Shortly after lunch in Naiyobi, the trek exits the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, transitioning to a drier and warmer landscape. The camp will be established in a forest of yellow acacia. Dinner and an overnight stay.
Acacia Camp – Engare Sero – Arusha
Ngorongoro Crater - After breakfast, the trek descends further into the dry and hot Rift Valley, where the dried ashes can be closely observed. Just before lunch, the waiting vehicle is reached.
