Day 1: Arusha to Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park - Depart from Arusha at approximately 6:30 am in an open-roof 4WD vehicle, heading towards the vast plains of the Serengeti. Expect to encounter a wide variety of wildlife within the park. The park is renowned for hosting the greatest wildlife spectacle on Earth. Due to its rich biodiversity and ecological importance, it has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. The Maasai people have historically grazed their livestock in the Serengeti, which they named “Open Plains” when Austrian explorer Oscar Baumann first visited in 1892. In the afternoon, you will arrive at your destination for the day, with dinner and an overnight stay at a recommended campsite.
Day 2: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Crater - Begin the day with a morning game drive in Serengeti National Park, where the three largest cats are easily spotted. Lions are abundant and often seen on a hunt, cheetahs are common in the southeastern plains, and leopards can frequently be found lounging in large trees along the Seronera River. Large herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephants and giraffes, and thousands of elands, topis, kongonis, impalas, and Grant’s gazelles are residents of the Serengeti year-round. After lunch, you will drive towards the Ngorongoro Crater. Upon reaching the crater’s edge, you will be treated to a breathtaking view of this natural wonder. Dinner and overnight stay at a recommended campsite.
Ngorongoro Crater then back to Arusha Town
Ngorongoro Crater - Following an early breakfast at dawn, descend into the crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is the largest unbroken caldera and boasts incredible wildlife diversity. On the grasslands and in the acacia woodlands, you will encounter nearly all species found in the East African savannah, except for topis, Maasai giraffes, and impalas. It is common to observe the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard) within a few hours. Later, you will drive to your hotel in Arusha for an overnight stay. You may choose to fly back the same night or the following day.
