Explore a half-day exclusive tour encompassing the Cesar Manrique Foundation and his remarkable Cactus Garden, followed by a stopover at El Islote de Fermina.
During his lifetime, Manrique commanded widespread admiration, and his major influence on Lanzarote’s cultural landscape continues. An artistic all-rounder, he created an array of paintings, sculptures and architectural pieces, championing environmental sustainability far ahead of its time. Our first spot is his Jardín de Cactus featuring over a thousand unique shapes of succulent plants, blending seamlessly with the raw surroundings thanks to Manrique’s skills and vision.
The Cesar Manrique Foundation too, stands as a testament that a balance can be sustained between constructed spaces and the natural environment. A walk through the artist’s home-studio craftily integrated into a lava field offers solid evidence. Wrapping up our tour, we travel to El Islote de Fermina, a minor islet bringing architectural grandeur to Arrecife bay, illustriously designed by Manrique in the 70s.
