Setting Sail from St. Paul’s Bay

The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as I made my way to St. Paul’s Bay, the starting point for my spontaneous island adventure. The air was crisp, and the promise of a perfect day at sea was palpable. As a former professional surfer, I’ve always had a deep connection with the ocean, and the idea of exploring the islands of Comino and Gozo was too tempting to resist. With a carefree spirit and a love for the sea, I booked the Island Adventure the night before, eager to experience the beauty of Malta’s northern islands.

The Hornblower Cruises boat was already bustling with energy as I arrived. The crew, friendly and welcoming, set the tone for the day. I quickly snagged a spot on the top sunbathing deck, knowing from experience that the best views are always from the top. Arriving at Gozo’s Mġarr Harbour, I opted for the €5 shuttle bus to make the most of my time on the island. Our driver, Paul, was a gem, sharing insights and stories about Gozo’s rich history and culture. We stopped in Victoria, the capital city, where I had the chance to wander through the charming streets, visit local shops, and take in the stunning views from the Citadel.

The three-hour stop on Gozo was just enough to get a taste of the island’s unique charm. I found myself captivated by the blend of old-world architecture and vibrant local life. As we made our way back to the boat, I reflected on the day’s adventures, feeling a deep sense of contentment. The journey back to St. Paul’s Bay was filled with laughter, music, and the gentle rocking of the boat, a perfect end to an unforgettable day.
