Highlights
  • Sintra Mountains - Sintra and Cascais are small villages just outside of Lisbon, and they’re the real “must-do” tour when visiting Lisbon. Located in a beautiful protected area, the Sintra Hills are the home of some of the most beautiful Palaces and Castles.
  • Park and National Palace of Pena - Pena Palace is the most iconic Palace in Sintra. It is considered the most beautiful Castle in Europe, and it’s a true pleasure to walk in its Park, or just admire the views from its balconies, with Lisbon in the horizon.
  • Sintra Municipality - Enjoy some free time to lunch and explore Sintra Village, which looks just like a postcard town.

Taste the local pastries, check some souvenirs or just enjoy the ambience there.

  • Cabo da Roca - Visit Roca Cape (Cabo da Roca), the westernmost piece of land in Europe.

Free time to admire the views and take some photos!

  • Cascais - You’ll have free time to explore Cascais, its bay and the surrounding streets.

The once fishing village that turned into home of kings in exile, and one of the espionage centers during World War II, Cascais is now a pleasant beach town, where people walk the streets while enjoying the sun.

  • Estoril - Drive through the Marginal Road, always along the coast, enjoying amazing views over the ocean, first, and the Tagus River, arriving in Lisbon.

Beautiful scenes - While we had a horrifically rainy day, Nuni made lithe best of our trip! He was so knowledgeable about the beautiful grounds at the palace and made sure we never waited in lines. We went to a great spot for lunch and were able to see what we could through the bad weather conditions. Nuno was an absolute pleasure to work with and we would definitely recommend him and this tour!

Great Tour! - We had a fabulous time with our guide/driver named Nano. He was very knowledgeable, approachable and was going out of his way to make our tour even more pleasurable! By lunch time the weather got very wet and windy but Nano’s dedication and friendliness just made this tour. We saw beautiful sites and had priority access to the Royal castle. Beautiful old quirky Sintra and passing the windy and very wild Coastline on our way to Cascais was spectacular. He also made it easy for us as he picked us up at the cruise terminal. Thank you again Nano and Around Lisbon’s team and wish you all well. Anne-Marie & Nicholas👏

Great day trip and a lot of walking - It was great. A lot of walking in Sintra so get ready. Cascáis is beautiful and I am very happy to visit that town. The tour guide, Felipe, was very good and had to drive during heavy rains at times. I think they should reverse lunch time instead of Sintra they should have in Cascáis.

A great day touring in a small group - A long but excellent day with a very knowledgable guide/driver. I don’t know where he gets his energy. It’s a bit of a journey to get to the Palace and our guide parked up near the impressive Botanical gardens and then walked us up to the Peña Palace. About a 35 minute walk uphill. The gardens are impressive and we were told they are so big it would take 7 hours to walk round. The Peña Palace is very popular and even though it was the low season, the queues were large. The benefit of booking the tour included priority access, so straight into the Palace with no queuing. You then have about 35 minutes to walk through the well laid out route. The guide is not allowed to join you as the walk ways are narrow and you need to keep moving. After the Palace, you are taken to Sintra village for a wander and for a lunch, in your own time. About 1 and half hours. Then it’s onto the coast and to Cascais which they call the Portuguese Riveria. It’s certainly worth a visit and a little stroll round. Pick up was at 9am and we got back at 7pm so it’s a long and great day and we learnt a lot. The groups are usually 8 and we had nice tour companions.

Wonderful day tour - We had a wonderful tour with Oriana. She really made the day more enjoyable -- you can see how passionate she is about Sintra and the Pena Palace. She told us all about the people behind the locations, especially Ferdinand and Mary. The palace is fantastic, but I particularly enjoyed the surrounding gardens and the walk to the palace. Also, having the "fast pass" to bypass the lines at the palace is huge. The tour was small, only six people in total. The traffic is challenging at these places, but Ori navigated through it well. Cabo de Roca is interesting to see -- it reminded me of the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland, but maybe not quite as spectacular. Some of the people there are just crazy with how far out on the cliff they go past the fences. Unfortunately, our day was hazy and cloudy so the views (and pictures) weren't quite as good. Cascais can be called a sleepy village by the sea, but it was very busy with loads of tourists (many from Spain) because it was spring break week. I wish we had more time to wander around there. Overall, I would highly recommend this tour. These places are definitely worth seeing, and this can be a nice day break from going around Lisbon.

Fairytale Experience - João took brilliant care of us. We walked through the gardens to reach the castle. This was really magical. We avoided the crowds and the gardens were so peaceful and beautiful. Joao gave us the history of the castle. We skipped the lines getting into the castle. It’s worth the trip just for that. The castle didn’t disappoint, it’s beautiful. He gave us recommendations for places to eat in Sintra and Lisbon. Cascais was lovely too and we had plenty of time to explore. It was so much easier and more time saving than trying to get to these places by public transport. I would definitely recommend this trip and Around Lisbon.
