Despite visiting Shimla... - Despite visiting Shimla numerous times, I finally understood the rich yet under-rated place of Shimla in India’s history, thanks to Wonders of Himalaya. Our guide, Preeti, told us fascinating stories and anecdotes surrounding the iconic colonial buildings and establishments in Shimla, helping us appreciate them beyond the photo ops they provide. Preeti was also so sweet and welcoming and answered many questions about life in Shimla. It was truly a wonderful way to engage better with a city that I learnt is more than just the summer capital of India. Highly recommend that everyone takes this walk :)

Beautiful Shimla guided walk - We did this private walking tour on arrival, which gave us a great insight into the history and culture surrounding Shimla. Our tour guide spoke great English and spoke passionately about the towns historical links. He also brought 2 colleagues who were studying tourism. They answered our numerous questions on the tour and we also wanted to eat a local Shimlaian thali, so they suggested suitable eateries.  We are pleased we did the tour rather than wandering alone as we learnt so much more.  Shimla is a stunning place, (it is so very different to the rest of India) and the local people are very friendly.  Some locals even stopped us to ask about the UK and how we had travelled to Shimla.  We would definitely recommend using Wonders of Himalaya (Viatour) for your tour.

Five star experiences - I did two tours with Wonders of Himalaya in Shimla. Both the Private Guide Walking Tour and the Food Experience were incredible. Even before the trip, there was excellent communication from Wonders of Himalaya. On the walking tour, my guide Preeti reached out and sent a picture so she could be easily identified in a busy area. And then we progressed along the Mall taking in the key sites of Shimla. Excellent and clear information. The next day, Preeti cooked up some wonderful dishes, explaining each and detailing Himachali cuisine. One of the highlights was a rather astringent fern based dish which I have nothing to compare it to. And accompanied by fresh baked bread and lemon grass tea. Ì've always been wary of doing home based tours, but Preeti and Rajgav were wonderful hosts. Rajgav also pointed out a lot of sites of interest on the drive from my accommodation. Highly recommend this company. Best communication from a two week trip to India - doing everything right.

Walking tour in Shimla - This private walking tour through Shimla was a fantastic way to explore the city’s colonial heritage. Starting at Christ Church, we passed landmarks like Betink’s Castle, Gorton Castle, and the Railway Board Building—each rich in history and striking architecture. The tour ended at the stunning Indian Institute of Advanced Study, offering beautiful views and a glimpse into the British-era legacy. Raghav was knowledgeable and engaging throughout the tour. I highly recommended this tour for history and architecture lovers.
