Jeongbang Waterfall - This iconic waterfall on Jeju Island is the only one in Asia that cascades directly into the sea. Visitors can enjoy dipping their feet in the water. The rock wall of Jeongbang Falls features the Chinese characters “Seobulgwacha.” Legend has it that an envoy of Jin Si-hwang visited Yeongju Mountain (now Hallasan Mountain) in Jeju Island to find “Bulocho” and inscribed words on the rock wall, but a typhoon broke the rock. Jeongbang Falls is surrounded by many rocks, so visitors should tread carefully. While descending the stairs is easy, ascending can be challenging. This natural wonder is the only waterfall in Asia that flows into the sea, and when the sun shines, rainbows and photographs enhance its beauty.

Oedolgae - Oedolgae Rock (Lonely Rock)
Oedolgae is steeped in a poignant love legend. In a seaside village in Seogwipo-si, a couple lived with their child. One day, the father went fishing but was caught in a storm, and his boat capsized, leading to his demise. The mother waited on the beach for decades, eventually turning to stone with her child. When the father heard the news, he washed ashore and turned into stone to reunite with his family. The grandmother figure stands with a baby, and the grandfather’s legs are submerged in the sea, visible behind the grandmother.
- Daepo Haean Jusangjeolli Cliff - These columnar joints are quadrangular pillars that appear intricately carved, formed by the rapid cooling of thick lava flows. The hexagonal stone pillars, resembling a staircase, create a natural spectacle. The waves crashing against them can reach heights of over 20 meters, offering a breathtaking view. The Jusangjeolli Cliffs along the Jungmun-Daepo Coast are 30 to 40 meters high and about 1 km wide, making them the largest in Korea and designated as Jeju Island Natural Monument No. 443.

- Yongmeori Beach - Located at the base of Sanbangsan Mountain, Yongmeori Coast resembles a dragon’s head entering the sea. The sandstone rocks, shaped by waves over millions of years, form a unique cliff. The hollow “oyster room” and wave-carved rock walls evoke a sense of history. The dramatic 30-50 meter cliffs have been featured in commercials and films.

- O’sulloc Tea Museum - Opened in September 2001, the O’sulloc Tea Museum showcases domestic and international tea-related items. It is a cultural space that blends Eastern and Western traditions with modernity, offering a nature-friendly retreat. Visitors can learn about green tea and traditional Korean tea culture and experience Sulloc tea.
Taking photos in the green tea field is a refreshing experience. Consider setting aside time for family meditation and enjoying a leisurely cup of tea. Amidst the hustle and bustle of city life, this can be a time for rejuvenation.
-
Yakcheonsa Temple - Jeju lacked a large temple until the grand three-story Daejeokgwangjeon was envisioned. Monk Hyein believed in Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva’s protection and traveled to promote temple construction, gaining support from many Buddhists. Before Yakcheonsa, only a traditional Jeju thatched house called ‘Yaksuam’ existed on the temple site. As the temple expanded, it was renamed Yakcheonsa. Construction began in 1988, and by 1991, the largest Buddhist temple in the East was taking shape. In 1993, the Vairochana Buddha was enshrined, and in 1996, the Daeungjeon Dedication Ceremony and Nahanjeon Topping-out Ceremony were held.
-
Sinchang Windmill Coastal Road - Located on the northwest side of Jeju Island, Sinchang Windmill Coastal Road features a distinctive offshore wind farm. The white windmills and emerald waters along the winding shoreline exemplify the autumn landscape and eco-friendly energy generation. This road offers one of the best sunset views on Jeju, so bring a camera!
An Ecological Experience Center walking course is available along the coastal road, with an observation deck for resting and enjoying the view. Walking along the Sinchang Windmill Coastal Road promises pleasant memories and photo opportunities.
-
Hyeopjae Beach - Adjacent to Hallim Park, 32 km west of Jeju City, Hyeopjae Beach features a white sandy beach mixed with shell powder, Biyangdo Island, a cobalt-colored sea, and a dense pine forest. The beach is about 200 meters long, 60 meters wide, with an average water depth of 1.2 meters and a gentle slope, making it ideal for families. Various facilities are available, and camping is possible in the pine forest. The southwest coast connects to Geumneung Beach, and locals refer to both as Hyeopjae Beach.
-
Handam Coastal Trail - Handam Beach stretches along the coastline from Aewol-ri Village to Gwakji Gwamul Beach. Created in 2001 as part of a coastline improvement plan, it offers diverse ocean enjoyment opportunities. The 1.2 km trail is paved along the beautiful coastline, providing a relaxing walk by the ocean. In July 2009, Jeju-si designated 31 sites representing Jejudo Island, and Handam Beach was chosen as one of these hidden gems.
-
Sanbangsan Mountain - Sanbangsan Mountain is a trachytic tuff lava dome connected to the Yongmeori Coast’s sedimentary layer. This bell-shaped tholoid stands prominently in southwest Jeju, visible from afar. It is encircled by Ilju Road, connecting Moseulpo Port and Hwasun-ri. Well-maintained stairs lead to Sanbanggulsa Grotto on the southern face of Namsa-myeon. To reach the summit, use the trail behind Sanbangsan Mountain leading to Deoksu-ri, Yonghae-dong.
-
Suwolbong Peak - The sunset view from this volcanic cone rivals that of Sarabong Volcanic Cone. From the observatory at Suwolbong Peak, visitors can see Chagwido Island, Songaksan Mountain, Dansan Mountain, and Jukdo Island, and even observe Sarabong with binoculars. Suwolbong is associated with the legend of Nokdumul, a tale of sibling devotion. According to the legend, siblings Nokgo and Suwol sought 100 herbs to cure their mother’s illness but couldn’t find the last herb, Acanthopanax senticosus. Suwol climbed Suwolbong Peak’s cliff to harvest it.
