As a nomadic surfer, I’ve spent countless days chasing waves along the sun-drenched coasts of Central America. But every now and then, I find myself drawn inland, seeking new adventures that don’t involve a surfboard. This time, my journey led me to the vibrant streets of San José, Costa Rica, where I embarked on a food tour that promised to reveal the city’s culinary and architectural treasures.

The tour kicked off at Mercado Central, a bustling hub that felt like the beating heart of San José. The market’s narrow aisles were alive with the chatter of vendors and the aroma of traditional Costa Rican snacks. I couldn’t resist sampling a few local delicacies, from savory tamales to crispy chicharrones. Each bite was a burst of flavor, a testament to the rich culinary heritage of this beautiful country.
