Highlights
  • Tarpat Street - Embark on a journey to explore significant Kabbalistic sites and delve into the concepts and customs associated with each location.

The esoteric and traditionally clandestine aspect of Jewish tradition is known as “Kabbalah.” For centuries, these esoteric teachings were shrouded in secrecy, with scant information accessible to the general populace. However, in the 16th century, the town of Zefat/Safed emerged as the epicenter of Kabbalistic wisdom. A host of renowned Kabbalists, including Rabbi Moshe Cordivero, The “Alkabetz”, and The Holy Ari “Isaac Luria”, imparted their knowledge here.

Zefat/Safed is also recognized for being the residence of Rabbi Yosef Cairo, who penned the definitive text on Jewish Religious law, the “Shulchan Aruch”.

The Kabbalah Heritage Walk stands out because it is conducted by individuals who have not only studied these teachings but are also deeply influenced by them. At each historical spot, participants will gain insights into the teachings of the pertinent sage and understand their influence on contemporary global Judaism.

The tour is available once daily from Sunday to Thursday, commencing at 1:30 pm, and on Friday, it begins at 11 am. Visits outside these times can be arranged with prior coordination and are dependent on availability.

Excellent tour of Tzfat and Kabbalah - This was a very enjoyable tour of the old city of Tzfat. Our guide, Rabbi Shmuel, was excellent and patient in explaining and my mother and I learned a lot about the history of Tzfat, the history of Kabbalah, and the history of Kabbalah in Tzfat. I really appreciated the Rabbi's knowledge and willingness to explain and answer all of our questions. My mother and I both left this tour with a deep appreciation for the place and the history of the place. Thank you Rabbi Shmuel!

Amazing Experience - Rabbi Kopel did an amazing job with this tour. He was very personal and down to earth and spoke to the level of knowledge of our family. He is extremely knowledgeable about the historic, spiritual, and religious aspects of the city. He did an amazing job of tying how the Kabalah in Judaism can be used in our lives. He also showed us some historically significant landmarks that are important for Judaism. I would highly recommend Rabbi Kopel if you want to learn about Tzfat, Judaism, and Kaballah.

Witnessing More than Kabbalah - Rabbi Kopel is eloquent and quietly impassioned as he guides you through the deep history of Sfat and Kabbalah. He stops to point out the spot where Kabbalat Shabbat service was conceived, and he talks at some length about the role of the Ari (Isaac Luria) in birthing Kabbalah -- "the wine of Torah," as the Rabbi explains. He is a terrific guide, generous with his knowledge and his time. There is no sense of hurry, and ample time to talk, to sit quietly in sacred spaces, and to reflect. We came away from this tour with a deeper feeling for the mystical dimensions of Judaism, as well as some specific knowledge. The feeling is, in truth, harder to communicate -- but this Rabbi knows exactly how. A delight!

The right man for the job - Rabbi Kopel was generous with both his knowledge and his heart. We walked and I learned a lot about the key figures, landmarks and general concepts of Kabbalah (as much as one can in an hour or so). We also had a very exciting and animated conversation about Jewish spirituality. He’s a wonderful guy, and you’ll learn a lot in a short period of time.
