Vatican Museum ~ Sistine Chapel Tour - We toured between Christmas and New Year’s Day, and it was very crowded. The lines to get tickets were very long. So we were glad to have this booked.
Our guide was a historian and university professor who was extremely knowledgeable. I’ve done my share of reading history, and she knew it inside and out. I learned quite a lot.
The Vatican is a little overwhelming. It’s huge and crowded. Certain areas, such as the Sistine Chapel, do not allow photography.
As a Lutheran, the Martin Luther Trail in Germany is on my bucket list (booked to go in June 2025). I don’t know why I never considered the Vatican until this trip to Rome. So much to see at the Vatican as well as throughout Rome that frame the actions of Martin Luther in Wittenberg in 1517. Our guide discussed that era from the Vatican perspective, so I particularly enjoyed that vantage point.
The story of the paintings in the Sistine Chapel by Michelangelo are quite fascinating. I won’t spoil it for those who are unaware. The research will enriches your experience.
St. Peter’s Basilica and the catacombs underneath were awesome.
Only drawback is it was too crowded.

Sistine Chapel, Vatican Museums and Gardens Guided Tour + Skip the Line! - This was an excellent tour, and very much worth the “skip the line with tour guide” cost, without question. While the Sistine Chapel itself was truly special - the ceiling paintings magnificent, the tour of museums, tapestries, sculptures, and gardens, were also all equally impressive and meaningful.
Our tour guide Alessandra was incredible and deeply knowledgeable about all of the venues. She was superb!

Enjoyable tour of the museums and St Peter’s Basilica - Eric was our tour guide and he was very prompt meeting us at the agreed location near the Vatican. He explained very well everything that we needed to know. He gave us a receiver with the earbud so that we could hear him clearly as he taught us about the Vatican and the various pieces of artwork.
This is our second time using Viator and would most definitely use them again.

Vaticano bello - Skipping the line and avoiding the wait as well as seeing the beauty of the Vatican museum art, sistene chapel and St Peters were perfect. Our tour guide was informative and personable. My only complaint is the audio was difficult to hear with the headsets provided. I missed a lot of information for that reason. I suggest looking into the type of headsets they use at the Uffizi in Florence. Those worked great!

Tour Vatican - Juliea was a good tour leader. The place was a little hard to find, but the tour itself was good. I definitely suggest a tour of the vatican.

Too Crowded, Wrong Galleries, Not Worth It - The guide was good, but all we saw were sculptures and the Sistine Chapel. No other paintings. It was unbelievably crowded as the photos show. Our guide had to shout to be heard over our ear phones. Having been there before and knowing there are many other galleries with beautiful paintings, I could not understand why we were only shown sculptures, not paintings. The overcrowding was ridiculous and in the Sistine Chapel we were forced to look through the screen at the Last Judgment. I'd have preferred to keep my memories of past visits and it wasn't worth almost $150.

Terrible - avoid at all costs - A total waste of time and money. Please do not use this operator. We were given a tour guide with such a strong Asian accent that nobody could understand what she was saying. We learned nothing and many people in our tour left early. It was painful. I’m sure she was very knowledgable but no body could understand her. A waste.
The tour operator himself is incredibly rude and in denial (see his replies to other bad reviews). Save yourself the anguish and boom with someone else!
