Setting Sail from Marina Pez Vela

The sun was just beginning to dip below the horizon as I arrived at Marina Pez Vela in Quepos, ready to embark on the Manuel Antonio Catamaran Cruise. The marina was bustling with energy, a mix of locals and travelers all eager to explore the stunning coastline of Costa Rica. As a seasoned surfer, I’ve spent countless hours in the ocean, but there’s something uniquely thrilling about setting sail on a catamaran, the promise of marine wildlife and breathtaking views ahead.

The catamaran itself was a bit more modest than I had anticipated, but the crew’s warm welcome quickly made up for it. With only 57 of us on board, the boat felt spacious, and I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the smaller group size. I could only imagine how cramped it might feel with the full capacity of 120 people.

The crew, ever attentive, ensured we were well taken care of, even pulling some extra snacks from the kitchen when they noticed a few of us were still peckish. Their kindness and hospitality were truly the highlight of the trip.

As the sun began its descent, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, we gathered on the deck to watch the sunset. The Pacific Ocean stretched out before us, a vast expanse of shimmering water, the horizon a perfect line where sea met sky. It was a breathtaking sight, one that words can scarcely capture. In that moment, surrounded by fellow adventurers, I felt a deep sense of peace and gratitude.
