Exploring Protaras: A Dive into the Underwater Wonders with Poseidon
Drawn by the allure of Protaras’ underwater world, I embarked on a diving adventure with Poseidon Dive Centre. The promise of exploring vibrant marine life and unique dive sites was irresistible.
A Warm Welcome to the Depths
The moment I stepped into the Poseidon Dive Centre in Protaras, I was enveloped by a sense of calm and excitement. Gabriel, our dive guide, greeted us with a warm smile and a reassuring presence that immediately put my nerves at ease. As a marine biologist, I’ve spent countless hours studying the ocean’s wonders, but diving into the open sea always brings a unique thrill. The anticipation of exploring the underwater world in Protaras was palpable.
Our first dive site was the renowned Green Bay, a perfect spot for both beginners and those looking to refresh their skills. The gentle entry into the water was a comforting start, and as we descended, the vibrant marine life began to reveal itself. Schools of colorful fish danced around us, and the sight of a graceful sea turtle gliding by was nothing short of magical. Gabriel’s calm demeanor and expert guidance made the experience both exhilarating and serene.
Discovering Underwater Marvels
The following day, we were joined by Valentine, another exceptional guide from Poseidon. His enthusiasm for the ocean was infectious, and his knowledge of the local dive sites was impressive. Our dives that day took us to Crystal Cove and The Caves, each offering its own unique underwater landscape.
Crystal Cove was a treasure trove of marine life, with moray eels peeking out from their rocky hideaways and octopuses camouflaging themselves against the ocean floor. The Caves, however, were the highlight of the day. Swimming through the caverns and tunnels felt like entering another world, a hidden realm beneath the waves. The play of light and shadow created an ethereal atmosphere, and I found myself completely immersed in the moment.
A Sculptural Finale
Our final day of diving was a true testament to the creativity and wonder that the ocean inspires. Ann, our guide for the day, led us to MUSAN in Ayia Napa, an underwater sculpture forest that combines art and nature in a breathtaking display. The sculptures, designed to promote marine life, stood like sentinels in the clear blue water, each telling its own story.
Diving among these sculptures was a surreal experience, a blend of human creativity and the ocean’s natural beauty. The sense of peace and connection to the underwater world was profound, and I left the water feeling both invigorated and reflective.
The team at Poseidon Dive Centre made my time in Cyprus unforgettable. Their passion for the ocean and dedication to providing a safe and enjoyable diving experience was evident in every dive. As I plan my next adventure, I know that the memories of Protaras and the incredible underwater world will stay with me, inspiring my work and my love for the sea.
