Additional Information

The Andaman Islands, a cluster of approximately 300 islands in India, are located in the Bay of Bengal. They are recognized for their beaches adorned with palm trees and white sand, lush mangroves, and tropical rainforests. The islands’ coral reefs, housing marine creatures like sharks and rays, are hotspots for divers and snorkelers. The native tribes of Andaman live on some of the more isolated islands, many of which are not open to tourists.

A diamond in our back yard - Adaman and Nicobar Island is a must visit place for all Indians. It has pristine beaches, a clean city, amazing people and hidden gems. We went in May so we were lucky to get out before the monsoon set in. We spent 6 days in Andaman but 8 to 10 days will be ideal. I am gld i chose this over Bangkok. We visited- Portblair and havelock island only. Did not have time for Neil Island. Portblair was our first stop. Day 1 - Cellular Jail and Tribal Museum We visited the Cellular Jail and the tribal museum on day 1. A must visit place both. The sound and light show has three timings starting from 5.30. tickets for the sound and light show has to be booked online. So please do it before you go or ask your travel agent to do it before hand. During season it can be tricky. A guide is a must to walk you through the Cellular Jail. The guide charged us Rs 200/- family. During season i guess it could go up. Day 2- Baratang Island - Lime stone and Mud Volcano The trip to Baratang Island is through the adivasi forest area. We left at 3.30 AM from out hotel to be on time to catch the 9 AM convoy. The convoys leave at 6 AM, 9 AM, 12 PM and 3 PM. If we miss the convoy then we have to wait till the next convoy. We were lucky to see a few adivasi's on our way to the ferry. It takes close to 90 minutes to reach the ferry. Upon reaching bratang island we took a speed boat to lime stone caves. The Limestone caves is a must visit place just to enjoy the beauty Mud volcano- a diamond in our back yard. A creation of tsunami, but it is very interesting to see the volcanoe emit methane gases Day 3-4-5 Potblair to Havelock Plese note that those going from mainland the tickets to Havelock has to boked before hand and cannot be booked after going there. We where lucky to get tickets and the cost between 1700 to 1900 per person depending upon the class you choose. This having motion sickness please carry medicines to overcome it. Day 3 Radha nagar beach and kala pathar beach is a must go. Day 4 Scuba diving and Kalapathar beach If you are a adventure enthusiast then SCUBA DIVING is must do. We did it with GYPSY DIVERS. Very good instructors and very good training was given to us. Our whole family came along Elephanta beach we could not go because of a cyclone alert. Day 5 haveklock to Portblair On return we saw the Chatam Saw Mills, The Ariforce Musuem and went to the Corbyn's Cove Beach bin's beach In the evening we went to Chidyatapu. Please note the timings of all the palces you are going to visit. They all close any time between 5 to 6 PM Day 6 we left for home Andaman is must go to place We had hired a local driver who showed showed us the place around. Very sincere person and very reasonable and knowledgable as well His name is Sanmukh-9434260796
