Pompeii Guided tour - This was an excellent 2 hour trip to some of the highlights of Pompeii. Raffaele was our guide ,he was very knowledgeable and gave us a superb overview of Pompeii from its earliest existence up until AD 79 when it was buried by the Vesuvius eruption . Then the history of its rediscovery in the 18 th century and the continuing excavations. He showed us some quieter corners away from the crowds as well as the main forum, basilica and amphitheatre. Just walking in the streets you feel that someone may just pop out and ask you for a denarius! He then gave us some information about other places to see . It is a large site and will take you 30 -40 minutes to walk from one end to another and 30 minutes across too . It will take you longer because you will explore some of the restored buildings ,baths, private residences and large structures like the amphitheatres and the forum. We made a mistake with the Pompeii plus tickets only discovering on the way out , after we had walked far and wide that the areas they allow you into were in one corner we had missed .So check this at the entrance. We had a snack and drink at the restaurant, an old 19 th century house ,this was good food and a welcome stop before walking around on our own in the afternoon, once the tour had finished. If you take the train from Napoli Centrale on the circumvesuvio line. You can tap in and out with a credit or bank card ,if you don’t have time to buy a ticket . The train station is opposite the entrance .The train takes 30 minutes or so . The station is Pompeii Scarvi- Villa dei Misteri. Finally do go to the Naples Archeological Museum,it has superb artefacts from Pompeii as well as other collections. Also a beautiful building inside in its own right.

A great day out in Pompeii - I went here in March with my partner. The tour was both engaging and informative. Riccardo is a very friendly and knowledgeable man. There wasn't a question we asked that seemed to phase him. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone interested in visiting Pompeii!

Worthwhile tour! - Riccardo was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of interesting information. We went to a few places that none of us had seen before. It was neat to learn from a local. We chose to start with the tour and then explore- it was a great way to learn a lot.

If you appreciate history you’ll appreciate this tour - We had Ricardo as our guide and we were blown away! He told us how he used Latin to learn English and how it helped him so the entire time he would reference to the Latin root of the world to explain what it for, and this was so much fun! It created a sort of competition with my siblings and I as we tried to guess. I ended losing and buying dinner but it was a great way to get us engaged I understand it’s cheaper to just go and do a walking tour to see the ruins, but you really don’t get to imagine it and see it as a city if you do this (IMO). Ricardo really challenged our imagination, and helped us understand the engineering that has not been able to be replicated since the Romans. My brother, sister, mom, and I all highly recommend Ricardo as he is respectful of the city, and gives you a tour to understand why it should continued to be respected.

Fascinating Pompeii Tour – Incredible Guide, but So Hot! - Our tour of Pompeii was absolutely amazing, thanks to our incredible guide, who seemed to know everything about the ancient civilization. He brought the ruins to life with fascinating details about daily life, Roman innovations, and the dramatic events of Mount Vesuvius’ eruption. Every stop was packed with insight, making it feel like we had stepped back in time. That said—it was HOT. The July heat was intense, and while the experience was unforgettable, we wouldn’t recommend going too deep into the ruins during peak summer. Our guide did his best to keep us in the shade when possible, but Pompeii is mostly exposed, and the heat can be overwhelming. If you’re planning to visit, go in the cooler months for a more comfortable experience. But no matter when you go, this tour is a must for history lovers—just be prepared for the sun!

Tour for historical reference is needed in Pompeii - Great tour, highly recommend the tour as you will miss a lot of history and context without it. Amazing place.
