Additional Information

Embark on an extraordinary day-long tour with a small group from Rome in a luxury minivan accommodating no more than 6-7 passengers, accompanied by a tour assistant throughout the day. Our first destination is the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Pompeii archaeological site, where a professional guide will lead a two-hour exploration of the ruins. The tour highlights significant spots in Pompeii, such as the Macellum (food market), the Baths, social gathering places, and the abodes of affluent inhabitants, fostering an understanding of their practices and customs. The journey proceeds to Positano, the jewel of the Amalfi Coast, with a break for lunch and a leisurely period for shopping and unwinding. As we traverse further along the Amalfi coast, soak in the magnificent sights of renowned cities encapsulating unique landscapes: pursuing the coastal roads enveloping the mountains, the ocean and its myriad hues will be etched in your memory for years to come. The tour ends with a tasting and tour of the ‘Limoncello’ factory, before heading back to Rome.

This was a great way to... - This was a great way to spend the day for those who cannot take more time to explore Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. Our tour-assist and driver were very courteous, and the local Pompeii guide was excellent. We did hit some traffic on the way back but it was the end of a holiday in Italy.

So glad we booked with Welcome Italy tours. - When in Rome, you try to do so much but don’t forget to book a trip to Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast and when you do, book it with Welcome Italy tours. We didn’t want to meet anyone anywhere so having them pick us up at the hotel at 6:45 am in a black minivan (like the limo minivans that take you to the airport) was just perfect. Three seats in the back, three in the middle and driver, passenger and tour guide seat at the front. This day, there were five tourists. The driver, Max (aka Giovanni :) ) was a skilled and superb driver. My husband was grateful he wasn’t the one driving along the Amalfi Coast’s narrow roads. JJ the guide provided some interesting details as we drove along the highway. We stop at a highway pit stop, but please understand the quality of the food was better than some of the cafes in Rome. Everything was made fresh, pastries, sandwiches, coffee was being offered along with water bottles etc. Don’t confuse this with American pit stops. It is a little soon into the journey but works for those that didn’t grab breakfast. Then once reaching Pompeii you are escorted by the archeological park’s own guide to visit and learn about the history. You don’t get to see the most recent excavations as that is separate admission. If you think 2 1/2 hours is too short, don’t book this tour. Then we drove along the coast, spectacular views until reaching the town of Amalfi. The town is charming and the restaurants plentiful. The pitstop to visit the limoncello we could have done without. It’s a shop selling limoncello along with other chocolates and specialty items. They give you free samples. We all thought we were visiting a place that makes it, you aren’t. But don’t let that persuade you not to go. Then we drove to a another stunning view of Naples and Mt. Vesuvius. Then drove back to hotels. It is a long day, long drive but even my fifteen year old enjoyed his day. Perfect day of walking around and snoozing in the car. We were so happy to have gone on this tour. Being one of 30+ on a large bus would have been a nightmare.

Great Tour - Josh, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and patient. The Pompeii tour made the trip honestly. Amalfi Coast is quaint, cute but not a lot to do.

Great trip, Pompeii is so worth it! - This was a great trip to Pompeii. Our guide in Pompeii was Hector and he was amazing! He will be 80 in January but he can walk fast and is so knowledgeable. He knew so much about the history of the area. He also had a fun and great personality. He made the tour amazing. I would have preferred to spend more time in Pompeii over the Amalfi Coast. Since we went in November, we could not go to Positano and went to Amalfi instead. It is pretty but other than lunch and shopping, not much else to do there. Also, the road to get there is very curvy, don't recommend it for anyone who gets carsick. We did not but we loved Pompeii so much, that we would rather have spent more time there. The van was comfortable and Teressa who was with us all day was great.

To see Pompeii was a dream-still dreaming - Theresa, our guide and Max our driver were excellent. The Pompeii guide, Daniel, was very disappointing. He did NOT take us to the ‘tourist’ sites that I longed to see but spent a great deal of time talking, sometimes for up to 20 minutes in one spot without moving along or seeing other sites. Saw 6 sites in 2 hours. Spent most of the time along similar streets with the same type of houses. I reminded him 3 times that we had limited time. We should have been told where he was taking us OR maybe we should have been asked what we wanted to see, NOT what he just wanted to talk about.
