Fantastic half day tour - A friend and I were in Phnom Penh with a couple of days to spare before joining our tour and decided on the Silk Island Private Half day tour. Our tour guide, Siphat, was waiting in the lobby of our hotel on the morning of our tour. Siphat and our tuk tuk driver were a pleasure to travel with. Siphat was very knowledgeable and took the time to point out interesting things along the way. The whole trip was a very special introduction in to Cambodian life and both Siphat and our driver made the day a great experience. Recommend this trip.

A special island, her gentle people, a gifted guide - We signed up for a half day private tour of Silk Island, Phnom Penh. Our excellent guide was Siphat, and our gentle, patient, very able driver was Chan Dy. The tour vehicle was a roomy, clean, air-conditioned van. The tour, which eventually lasted more than the stipulated 4 hours, was fabulous! We saw & learnt so much, not just about every stage of the traditional form of silk weaving, but we also held the fat wriggly silk worms and had the opportunity to buy gorgeous affordably-priced handloomed silk shawls. Siphat brought us to see farms, and saffron-robed young monks at lunch in the temple, so we caught a glimpse of these shy, smiley boys at rest with their friends. Siphat is very knowledgeable (he survived the Khmer Rouge genocide & has vivid memories of it), he’s studied in Ukraine, worked at an NGO, and as an aviation engineer, and he’s gracious and kind. He took very good care of us and gave careful instructions (even going out of his way to show us places) of where to go and what to do for the rest of our stay here, explaining all in the soft, singsong cadence of his fellow Cambodians. The tour was such a lovely experience we strongly recommend it!

Fabulous day visiting Silk Island! - We had an action packed day with our guide Si Phat and our driver, who took us to Silk Island and back to our hotel. Si Phat was a wealth of information and took us to a local family who weaves silk and where we were able to see their home and hear about their daily life. He showed us all of the different fruit trees, the vegetables and herbs, the pigs and chickens and discussed how they were all used in cooking. He then took us to an old temple and to a monastery where we met the monks and the village women who had gathered to cook and bring food to the monks. They were very welcoming and they invited us to sit and eat with them. It was a very special experience! After we left the monastery, we went to “Silk Island” where there is a community of weavers and we were able to see the entire process of silk worms, the cocoons, the boiling of the cocoons and the weaving and dying of the silk threads. We then saw the looms and heard about the amount of time it takes to set up a loom and then to weave the fabric. It was a wonderful and very informative day and I would highly recommend taking this tour if you have a few days in Phnom Penh!

Great tour with a fantastic guide! - Our guide Siphat was lovely, we had a great time with him. He pointed out lots of different parts of Phnom Penh and then going on the ferry to Silk Island was an experience. We didn’t realise the tuk tuk would drive on with us, lots of bumping up and down and laughing! Going to visit Nari and her family was special, watching her weaving on their big family loom was fascinating. Siphat then took us for a tour of area including an old Buddhist temple that was crumbling into the river, a boat building workshop and a school. We then went to Silk Island and watching the process of the silk making, from worm to fabric. It was a lovely tour, Siphat is such a warm friendly guide with an infectious laugh. We would certainly recommend him to everyone.

Book this tour asap! You won’t regret it! - This was one of the cooler experiences I’ve had while traveling. Our guide, Siphat, was extremely friendly and patient with us, as it was our first time in Cambodia. Getting to see how the scarves are made from worm to loom was so great. Cannot recommend enough

Great fun on Silk Island - Great trip to Silk Island with our lovely guide Siphat. He took us all around the island, showing us local plants, a native's home, the pagoda and finally the silk farm. He was hugely knowledgeable and we really enjoyed ourselves. The only reason this didn't get 5 stars is that I think it is overpriced. $97pp seems a lot, considering the tuk tuk, crossing and entry fees are negligible.
