What a packed, varied and exciting day. - We experienced a day of contrasting experiences, sites, and activities. We were collected from our hotel at 9am by our driver for the day, Sanjay. Although we some idea of what was to follow the reality exceeded our expectations. Our first stop was the Catholic Bascilica and SE Cathedral in Old Goa. We also visited the nearby Achelogical museum. We then drove to the Hindu Mangeshi temple where a priest told us our fortune for a few rupees. Next was a guided tour of a spice plantation and lunch. ( All included). We then drove to Panjai town centre for some sightseeing and retail therapy, then onto Mirimar beach. The final stop was a "cruise with cultural music and live DJ". (Again, price included with Sanjay, ensuring we got on board in good time). What a great way to end a memorable day, as we sailed into the sunset dancing and having fun with young and old a like. We arrived back at our hotel about 8pm, with smiles on our faces.

Private driver for Goa highlights - So this was advertised as a private tour with a local guy. I saw two temples and the main cathedral, as well as went to a spice plantation. It was a long day in the car but lovely. The driver was courteous and friendly, and very accommodating, If I ask him to do something. However, he was not a guide and so I was basically just driven from place to place. Which I could have done by hiring a driver myself. So I think the advertising on this is very misleading. If you just want a driver, that’s what this is. However, if you want somebody with local knowledge who can tell you about the history, then this is not the tour for you. I was pretty disappointed because I wanted to learn more, but very happy with the driver. I would recommend doing this with somebody who could at least give you a little bit of background about the beautiful things that you were seeing. Again, this was not the driver’s fault at all but Viatours fault as it was advertising It as something it wasn’t.
