David was a warm, personable guide who clearly loves his country and his heritage. - We really enjoyed our time with David. He introduced us to knowledgeable guides who taught us about traditional Mayan chocolate making, traditional Mayan spinning, dyeing and weaving and bee keeping and preservation. He shared some words from his native Mayan language with us and showed us how to recognize genuine handicrafts.

okay, not great. - We thought the tour was just okay. The chocolate and weaving visits were going to a store where the store clerks give demonstrations to everyone that walks in the door. The stores were filled with tourists. We felt pressure to tip or buy something at each stop. At lunch we were given no options, just a chicken leg in a broth with rice on the side. We had a beer and had to pay extra. We also were asked to pay for a taxi ride (tuk tuk) to one of the sites. At $100 pp, I didn't expect to pay for all the little extras.
