The adventure begins with a pleasant journey to Amanohashidate, celebrated as one of Japan’s top three scenic spots. This magnificent 3.6 km sandbar is lined with 8,000 pine trees and bordered by the tranquil Japan Sea and Amanohashidate Bay. The name “Amanohashidate” translates to Heaven’s Bridge, and the breathtaking scenery will show you why.
Be sure to take the cable car up Mt. Monju for an extraordinary view from the observation deck (optional, cost 1000 JPY). From this vantage point, Amanohashidate resembles a dragon soaring into the sky, earning it the nickname “View of the Flying Dragon.” It’s perfect for capturing stunning photos!
- Chion-ji Temple - Explore Chionji Temple, famous for academic success. Admire the impressive temple gate and try the distinctive fan-shaped omikuji (fortune-telling paper). For some entertainment, watch the revolving bridge that links Amanohashidate and Bussharado as it rotates to allow large ships to pass.
Amanohashidate Onsen – Chie-no-Yu: Enjoy the revitalizing hot springs known for their skin-enhancing benefits. Foot baths are complimentary, while entry to the onsen is 700 JPY (not included).

Funaya - Ine Village, acknowledged as one of Japan’s 18 most beautiful villages, is home to the country’s unique waterfront “funaya” houses. Here, visitors can experience the pristine natural scenery that differs from typical tourist spots. The funaya, with over 230 houses, extend along the 5-kilometer southern coast of Ine Bay. Even today, residents continue to live harmoniously with the sea right at their doorstep. The village is a peaceful fishing community, away from the hustle and bustle, where one can immerse in the natural beauty unique to Ine Town—the crystal-clear sea, lush green mountains, ever-changing sky, and the distinctive colors of the funaya houses, all contributing to an unspoiled and genuine atmosphere.
Stroll around, rent a bike, or even feed seagulls by boat while enjoying the picturesque coastal views. (The ticket for the boat is 1200 JPY and is not included)
