Zona Arqueologica de Monte Alban - Explore the cultural treasures surrounding Oaxaca on a 2.5-hour journey. We start at Monte Albán, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987, where you can discover the magnificent structures of this ancient Zapotec city, as well as its history and culture.
Due to the COVID-19 contingency, the duration of this tour may extend beyond the scheduled itinerary.
Note: Wearing a face mask, glasses, or a face shield is mandatory.
Pick-up starts at 7:00 am, as there is typically a 2-hour line to access the archaeological site. The tour concludes around 1:30 pm

Monte Alban - The tour was very good, just enough to satisfy a history buff and since it was in the morning and only a half day, the temperature which was heating up was avoided. The guide gave a great history, but inside the museum, he wasn't the only one giving a tour and at times it was difficult to hear him.

History like no other - Prompt pick up from downtown Oaxaca, our guide Antonio was incredibly knowledgeable and made us all welcome. The trip to Monte Alban is on 30 mins out of town and is an easy journey. If you have children don’t bring the buggy as some of our group did - it’s an ancient temple site with a lot of steps and climbing so you have been warned. The explanation of the site, time lines and cultural change over time were fascinating. Wonderful view of the city and mountains - a great way to learn about the rich history of Oaxaca.

The best excursion from Oaxaca - The most interesting excursion which can be done from Oaxaca, Monte Alban is a UNESCO site and we had an excellent tour guide.

Okay - We spent less than 2 hours at the site. This is not a half day and not enough time. Over an hour was spent picking up, waiting and changing buses.bour guide was fine, but only guided the beginning, then we were on our own to see most of it. I wouldn't choose this again.
