Amazing, most authentic tour you will find - no BS - When you come to a city as steeped in history as New Orleans, there is absolutely no excuse for not indulging in its rich and vibrant history; unfortunately, like many a city of this size and background, you can find a lot of very tourist-y tours. You know the kind. This is absolutely the anathema to that. You will not find any sloppily-researched BS here; instead, the guide we had for our tours, George "Loki" Williams, was not only an absolute, upbeat delight of pure high energy, he is also a veritable encyclopedia of the city, hailing from one of the oldest families in town. The perspective of someone whose family history is this entwined with the city, alongside a complex and detailed knowledge that spans the particular and global made the tours actually fun AND enlightening. Whether it's the history of rock and roll and everything associated, or a look at the darker aspects of the city's history, its spirits and ghosts, you will not be disappointed by a frankly amazing cornucopia of knowledge. I am a skeptical history buff who appreciates legends and occult lore and our guide expertly provided both, cleanly distinguishing the myth NOLA and the amazing lore of the fantastic that suffuses every inch of the city from the rich and vibrant history of the place. Oh, have I mentioned that we also had a total blast during our tours? Cerebral and fun at the same time, entertaining and enlightening, this tour was the best I've ever had. I sincerely wished tourguides in other cities I visited had at least half the knowledge, panache and Charisma. Seriously, I can't picture a better tour.

Awesome ghost tour with bits of true history and legend all wrapped into one - Amazing way to travel around the French Quarter in New Orleans. This tour had an awesome tour guide that really tailored his approach to the people within the tour - telling us not only about the ghost legends but about the true history behind the buildings and historic people that lived in them. Groups are limited to 12 people, which made it a more private and enjoyable experience - you could always hear the tour guide, he always allowed us time to take pictures, and we even stopped to grab some water!!

Everybody needs to attend Strange True Tours Tours - My boyfriend and I attended the Ghosts, Legends & Lore of New Orleans Walking Tour... this experience was just so much FUN. Our tour group was quite small and intimate in an amazing way. Jeffrey is a stellar story-teller-- he kept it creepy, educational, and funny all at the same time. My boyfriend and I had never been on a walking tour before and he had never been to New Orleans and we both loved it. The other people in our group were vets with these ghost tours and they voiced their enjoyment several times so it seems to be a tour for anyone who likes creepy history, old and recent.

Great tour!! - My wife, friend, and I were celebrating my 30th birthday last weekend and we wanted to do a ghost tour or something similar while in New Orleans. We read several reviews and decided on the "Ghost, Legends, and Lore" tour. Jeffrey was our guide and he was excellent. Our group was small (7 people) so we were able to interact with him and ask questions. Even though it was categorized as an "Adult" oriented tour, there wasn't much that was inappropriate for children 12 and up. Overall it was an excellent time. If I ever go back to New Orleans, i will try to take one of his other tours. A+

So Happy with this Tour! - I'm a regular visitor to New Orleans and have read a good deal on the history and lore. I wanted to hear the stories from a good story teller and not in a generic over-crowded tour setting. I did my research, asked around and decided on Strange True's Ghost, Legends and Lore tour. I am so glad I did. Jeffrey was an excellent and entertaining storyteller. There were only 5 people in our group and I really felt privileged as we passed groups of 20-30 people. I laughed, I got creeped out and I heard some new stories as well as old. I highly recommend this tour for a fun introduction to the French Quarter.

Not for Kids, Only Ok - This tour was pretty good, but not great. It was definitely too graphic for small children. I would not take anyone younger than 13 myself. The stories told are mostly "history" based and don't focus a lot on the ghosts themselves or stories about the hauntings. They focused more on WHY there's a haunting here. But again, some stories were embellished too much for shock value. Even several of the adults were cringing and looking grossed out. This takes me to my first complaint - inaccuracies. I'm a big history buff and read up on pretty much most of the French Quarter's history, hauntings, etc. Several of the stories the tour guide told, though mostly true, had SEVERAL exaggerations and false information (there is no evidence whatsoever that Madame LaLaurie performed the grotesque surgical experiments the tour guide told detailed stories about - changing genders, swapping arms, etc.), so if you go just take all the "history" with a grain of salt and know it's for entertainment. It is a walking tour, so be prepared for a lot of that and there is nowhere to sit or rest. You're not even allowed to lean against the buildings. The heat was a bit stifling, so I don't know that I'd do this again in the summer - even though it was after dark. There are a LOT of other tours out at the same time - that combined with musicians playing in the streets, it could be difficult to hear. Our guide was fabulous about speaking loudly and projecting, but even then it was hard to hear on occasion. They would benefit from using headsets for the tour group like I've seen others do. My second complaint is about the meeting place. First, we went into what I'm guessing is their sales office, nice and air-conditioned, but they sent us up the street to find a woman sitting on a chair?! We found her, she gave us our tickets and then told us to mill around with the other fifty or so people crammed onto the sidewalk alongside all the dumpsters and garbage cans. This was extremely unpleasant and stinky in the heat. I was nauseous by the time it was time to go. If there isn't room in the main office, find somewhere else for heaven's sake that is more comfortable for your patrons. So again if you're looking for something a bit gruesome and mildly entertaining, give the tour a try. I'd likely try another company if I had it to do all over again though.
