Agra Fort - Continue to Agra Fort, known as the Red Fort due to its red sandstone composition. Emperor Akbar the Great commissioned its construction in 1565 A.D. One of the most poignant sights of the Taj Mahal can be witnessed from the small octagonal tower within Agra Fort, across the Yamuna River. It was in this tower that Shah Jehan spent his final days under house arrest, with a view of his wife’s mausoleum.
Mehtab Bagh - This location is optional for visitors. Should time be a constraint, it may be omitted. It offers a view from behind the Taj Mahal, where the splendid reflection of the monument can be observed on the Yamuna River at sunset.
