• Rashtrapati Bhavan - Rashtrapati Bhavan, the residence of the President of the world’s largest democracy, symbolizes Indian democracy and its secular, pluralistic, and inclusive traditions. Designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker, it is situated on a 330-acre estate. The construction of this presidential palace took seventeen years and was completed in 1929. Nearly seven hundred million bricks and three million cubic feet of stone were used to create this architectural masterpiece, which features 2.5 kilometers of corridors and 190 acres of gardens. The main building spans 5 acres and includes 340 rooms across four floors. The renowned Mughal Gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan cover 15 acres and boast 159 celebrated varieties of roses, 60 varieties of bougainvillea, and numerous other flower varieties. The estate also houses a state-of-the-art Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum Complex (RBMC), which includes the Clock Tower, the Stables, and the Garages, showcasing past and present presidencies, regal ceremonies, and the rich flora and fauna of Rashtrapati Bhavan, among other features. The RBMC was inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee on July 25, 2016.
• India Gate - At the heart of New Delhi stands the 42-meter high India Gate, an “Arc-de-Triomphe”-like archway at a crossroads. Similar to its French counterpart, it honors the 70,000 Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives fighting for the British Army during World War I. The memorial lists the names of over 13,516 British and Indian soldiers who perished on the Northwestern Frontier in the Afghan war of 1919.
