Delhi City Tour - Overnight in Delhi
New Delhi - At 09:00 AM or your specified time, you will be picked up from your chosen location in Delhi / Gurugram / Noida. Our driver will greet you, and the sightseeing tour of Old & New Delhi will commence. Your tour guide will meet you in the hotel lobby or en route and will assist you throughout these 2 days.
Friday Mosque (Jama Masjid) - The first stop is Jama Masjid (The Friday Mosque), the main mosque of Old Delhi. It was commissioned by the fifth Mughal ruler, Shah Jahan, a renowned patron of Islamic architecture, best known for the Taj Mahal in Agra. The mosque is situated on a high plinth atop a natural hillock. It is the largest mosque in India and is often considered the epitome of Indian mosque design due to its grandeur and size.
Chandni Chowk - After visiting Jama Masjid, enjoy a rickshaw ride in Chandni Chowk, one of Delhi’s oldest markets. Chandni Chowk is Old Delhi’s main thoroughfare, a bustling wholesale market lined with hawkers and porters, offering a full medieval bazaar experience. During Shah Jahan’s reign, a tree-lined canal ran through its center, reflecting the moon, hence the name “Chandni Chowk,” meaning “moonlight place.” Shopping here is delightful, with the market divided into several streets filled with vibrant varieties of clothes, spices, perfumes, electronics, jewelry, candles, and more. Besides shopping, this area is also famous for its eateries, street food, and Indian snacks.
Red Fort - Drive around and explore (photo stop) the Red Fort from the outside, as 70% of the building is occupied by the Indian Army. Therefore, you will view it from the outside and capture some photos.
Raj Ghat - After exploring Old Delhi, the next visit is Raj Ghat, a simple square platform of black marble on the banks of the Yamuna River, symbolizing the spot where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated following his assassination in 1948. A commemorative ritual takes place every Friday in his memory.
Humayun’s Tomb - Next, visit Humayun’s Tomb, a world heritage site and the final resting place of the second Mughal Emperor Humayun. It is the first garden-tomb in the Indian subcontinent. This magnificent piece of architecture was commissioned by Humayun’s chief consort, Empress Bega Begum, in 1565 and is one of the few structures that used red sandstone on such a large scale at that time. The design of Humayun’s Tomb is typical Mughal architecture with Persian influences. This masterpiece also houses the remains of many other Mughals, including his wives, son, and descendants of the later Emperor Shah Jahan, as well as numerous other subsequent Mughals.
Qutub Minar - Finally, visit Qutub Minar, a world heritage site. The tall minaret was constructed in 1192 by Qutab-ud-din Aibak and later completed by his successor Iltutmish. The soaring conical tower is an exquisite example of Indo-Islamic Afghan architecture and has impressively withstood the test of time. This masterpiece is surrounded by lush green gardens, making it an ideal leisurely spot for visitors. Each of the five stories and the tower of Qutub Minar has unique designs. It was struck by lightning a couple of times and was damaged, but subsequent rulers repaired it. Thus, it stands mightily as it did before. Qutub Minar is a favorite destination for tourists and is one of India’s most visited monuments. After your tour, you will be driven back to the hotel. Your tour concludes with sweet memories of Delhi. After the tour, you will be driven back to the hotel. Overnight in Delhi.
Delhi Temples Tour - Departure - Tour Ends
New Delhi - Today, after breakfast, our driver and guide will come to receive you for the sightseeing tour of Delhi’s amazing temples. Check out from your hotel as your tour begins. Throughout the day, you’ll be immersed in traditional Hindu and Indian culture, spirituality, and architecture.
Gurudwara Bangla Sahib - First, visit Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, a Sikh Temple located in the heart of the capital city. It is one of the most important and sacred Sikh shrines, visited by thousands of followers and tourists from around the world. The temple is recognizable by its golden dome and tall flagpole. The grounds include the Gurudwara, a kitchen, a large (holy) pond, a school, and an art gallery. As with all Sikh Gurudwaras, the concept of Langar (Community Kitchen) is practiced, and all people, regardless of race or religion, may eat in the Gurdwara kitchen (langar hall). The food is prepared by gursikhs who work there and also by volunteers who wish to help. At the Gurdwara, visitors are requested to cover their heads and not wear shoes. Anyone can volunteer at the Gurudwara.
India Gate - Stop for photos at India Gate, an Arc-de-Triomphe-like 140-foot-high gateway constructed as a war memorial in memory of the 70,000 soldiers of the British Indian Army who lost their lives during the First World War. An eternal flame burns night and day to commemorate the brave soldiers who lost their lives fighting in the India-Pakistan War of 1971. Stroll up the broad avenue and enjoy the cool breeze. This spot remains a favorite place for families and young ones to enjoy an ice cream from the several carts lined up.
Rashtrapati Bhawan - Stop for photos at the Presidential Palace, which was once the Viceroy’s House and, after independence, became the official residence of the President of India, popularly known as Rashtrapati Bhavan. The decision to build a residence for the British Viceroy was made when the capital of India was relocated from Calcutta to Delhi. The splendor of Rashtrapati Bhavan is multi-dimensional. Its vast mansion and architecture are breathtaking. More than these, it holds a revered place in the annals of democracy for being the residence of the President of the largest democracy in the world. Few official residential premises of the Head of State in the world match Rashtrapati Bhavan in terms of size, vastness, and magnificence.
Parliament House - Drive around The Parliament House, designed by British architects Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker. It is one of the most impressive buildings in New Delhi. The Parliament House comprises a central hall, which is circular and considered a very important part of the building since this is where the Indian Constitution was drafted. The Parliament houses the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, and a library hall, where a country of 1.3 billion people is managed. The government of the largest democracy in the world sits in the Parliament House.
Swaminarayan Akshardham - Next, visit Swaminarayan Akshardham, which epitomizes 10,000 years of Indian culture in all its breathtaking grandeur, beauty, wisdom, and bliss. It brilliantly showcases the essence of India’s ancient architecture, traditions, and timeless spiritual messages. Akshardham Temple, where architects have achieved the zenith of carving to bring life to every piece of stone, is heralded by the Guinness World Record as the World’s Largest Comprehensive Hindu Temple. The complex was inaugurated on 6 November 2005. The beautiful mandir, built without steel, consists of 234 ornately carved pillars, 9 ornate domes, 20 quadrangle shikars, a spectacular Gajendra Pith (plinth of stone elephants), and 20,000 murtis and statues of India’s great sadhus, devotees, acharyas, and divine personalities. The mandir is a fusion of pink stone and pure white marble, where pink stone symbolizes bhakti in eternal bloom and white marble symbolizes absolute purity and eternal peace.
Lotus Temple - The Lotus Temple is a Bahá’í House of Worship dedicated to the oneness of humanity and religion. It symbolizes the unity of mankind of all faiths. People from all religious backgrounds are welcome here. The temple is admired for its universal design in the form of a lotus flower and is inspired by the teachings of the Bahá’í Faith, especially its tenets of the Oneness of God, the Oneness of Religions, and the Oneness of Mankind. In the evening, after the tour, you will be transferred to Delhi Airport or your desired location in Delhi.
