Exploring Lanzarote’s Hidden Treasures: A Family Adventure to Remember
Eager to uncover the hidden gems of Lanzarote, I embarked on the Lanzarote North Extravaganza with my family. From the enchanting Lagomar Museum to the serene island of La Graciosa, our day was filled with discovery and delight.
Discovering the Enchantment of Lagomar
Our adventure began with a visit to the iconic Lagomar Museum, a place that seemed to leap straight out of a storybook. Nestled into the hillside of Nazaret, Lagomar is a fascinating blend of art, architecture, and history. As we wandered through its labyrinthine paths and hidden caves, I couldn’t help but imagine the tales of Arabian Nights that inspired its creation. The kids were absolutely thrilled, exploring every nook and cranny, their imaginations running wild. It was a perfect start to our day, offering both entertainment and a touch of education about the island’s cultural heritage.
Lagomar’s unique design, with its exposed stone walls and whitewashed concrete, provided a wonderful backdrop for family photos. The museum’s art gallery and restaurant added to the experience, making it a place where both adults and children could find something to enjoy. It was a reminder of how travel can be both fun and enriching, a theme I always strive to incorporate into our family adventures.
A View from the Top at Mirador Del Rio
Next, we made our way to the Mirador Del Rio, a viewpoint that offers some of the most breathtaking views in Lanzarote. Perched on the Risco de Famara cliffs, 400 meters above sea level, the sight of the island stretching out before us was simply stunning. The kids were captivated by the panoramic views, and it was a great opportunity to teach them about the geography of the area.
The Mirador itself is a masterpiece of architecture by César Manrique, blending seamlessly with the natural landscape. It’s a place that invites reflection and appreciation of the beauty that surrounds us. We spent some time just soaking in the views, a peaceful moment that balanced the excitement of our earlier exploration.
The Serene Beauty of La Graciosa
Our journey continued as we crossed the water to the serene island of La Graciosa. Known for its unspoiled beauty and tranquil atmosphere, La Graciosa was a highlight of our trip. With no asphalted roads and a population of just over 700, it felt like stepping back in time to a simpler, more peaceful way of life.
Upon arrival, we were treated to a freshly prepared lunch onboard the boat, featuring a delicious paella that satisfied both the adults and the kids. The crew was fantastic, making sure everyone was comfortable and happy. After lunch, we had the freedom to explore the island at our own pace. The kids loved playing on the white sand beaches and swimming in the crystal-clear waters, while I enjoyed wandering through the quaint village streets.
As we returned to Lanzarote, we stopped once more at the Mirador Del Rio, this time to see the island from a different perspective. It was a fitting end to a day filled with discovery and delight, a reminder of the hidden gems that await those willing to explore beyond the usual tourist paths. This excursion was a perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and family bonding, and I can’t wait to share more of our travels with you.
